Hello everybody! There are many different cities in the world. There are unremarkable large cities, and there are small and interesting cities. Zhlobin belongs to the category of small but interesting cities. This place is steeped in history and beautiful architecture.
The Metallurgists' Palace of Culture is one of the most recognizable buildings in Zhlobin. This place is placed by many tourists and residents of the city. On holidays, artists and spectators gather here and numerous competitions are held.
Moreover, it is attractive for its central location. Nearby there are ponds and a park where residents can have a good time after working days.
The city was founded in the 15th century and the first mention in the annals dates back to 1654. However, the town-forming enterprise of Zhlobin is the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant. In honor of the plant, a giant iron bird was erected on Metallurgists Boulevard. This statue attracts many pigeons like a great totem.
The rook will be the emblem and sign of Zhlobin. It is connected with the history of the foundation and location of the city. The fact is that the famous route "from the Varangians to the Greeks" passed through Zhlobin, and shipping was a profit that fed the city.
The symbol of the city can be seen in different parts of the city.
Zhlobin can be called a city of metallurgists, railway workers and creative people. Many little things make a good impression.
There was a very bright sun and a lot of clouds outside. Combined, this made the sky in the otographs very bright, but I tried to catch the moment and show the best parts of the small town. The photo below is the central square. It is called the Liberators' Square in honor of the fallen soldiers of the Second World War.
The railway station is located just behind the square. If earlier Zhlobin was a large river artery, now it is a large railway artery. As is customary in many Belarusian cities, a statue of Lenin flaunts in front of the main entrance.
In the role of a monument, a huge train flaunts on the back of the station. It serves as a landmark and a reminder of the history of Zhlobin railway workers.
Zhlobin is an ancient city, which means that many ancient churches have been preserved or restored in it.
Each church has its own long-suffering history and deserves special attention.
These are mainly Orthodox churches, but there are also Catholic ones among them. They occupy an important place in the city and are built on a historic site.
But above all, Zhlobin is famous for its hockey team and passion for sports. To popularize sports, an Olympic reserve center was built in the city. This place hosts ice hockey and swimming competitions, has a rowing base and its own water park.
A huge number of sports facilities are located in one place. This makes me happy. A huge television tower stands against the backdrop of everything. This is probably the tallest building visible from anywhere in the city. The height is about a 30-storey building.
Zhlobin leaves behind a pleasant impression of a well-groomed city adapted for life. Many beautiful sights make this city stand out from many others. It was a pleasant walk through the streets of the ancient city.
