One place that's been on my "must visit" list has been Durham, a few years ago I had to attend some training up at Newcastle and we passed through Durham station on the way, I saw how magnificent the Cathedral looked and I'd wanted to visit ever since, and for my 50th birthday I had a surprise visit there :-)
The weather had been pretty good, considering the arctic blast last week which covered most of the country in snow, the days were more like early spring days than mid winter, it was lovely walking down the river bank in the morning, so say it's right at the side of city, it was lovely and quiet on there, with the sound of the water falling down the weirs, and the sound of the birds, I love things like that.
I managed to get the drone up for a short flight, I had seen a shot that I had been itching to get, and that is on the bend in the river as it wraps itself around the city, I had to be aware of the no fly zones as there is also a prison near by so I made sure that I was well away from the "right" hand side of the city, I got the shot, but I need to go back when the trees have leaves on, and maybe at dusk.
The reflections on the River Wear were beautiful in a morning, I wanted to get the warm sunlight on the cold water just as a contrast.
After the walk down the river, we headed over pre bends bridge into the town and up to the Cathedral.
This is such a magnificent site, especially lit up at dusk, the bright star on the picture is actually the planet venus.
I really hope you have enjoyed this post, I do have a lot more to come.
Thanks for reading,
All the best :-)
