I've had a week off work this week and decided to head up to Whitby in North Yorkshire for a day trip, however, this turned into an overnight stay, which made the trip even better.
Whitby is one of my favourite places on earth, but I'd not been this year as of yet, normally I would have been a few times by now but the last time I went, I got put me off as to how busy the place was, thankfully to my surprise, it wasn't busy at all on this visit, although the weather was rubbish.
For the entire week, the sky has just been a white characterless cloud covering the entire country, it's like it hasn't got properly light with this overcast horrible cloud, yes I do love cloud, but when there's no details in it, it gets a bit boring lol.
(The 199 steps)
We had a good walk around and decided to go to Humble Pie & Mash, it's a great place to visit, it's like going back in time to world war two, and the food is beautiful, I highly recommend the steak and stout pie, it's beautiful.
If you do go to the pie & mash shop, definitely put some Henderson's relish on there, people think it's like worcestershire sauce, but it's completely different, try it!!
That night we headed up the 199 steps as I wanted to get a drone shot of the steps lit up, sadly the wind was too strong, so quickly landed the drone and we went into the Whitby brewery. I had a porter called jet black (I think) which was lovely, we wanted fish and chips for tea, but the pizza's they do at the brewery looked so good, we went back up the following day and had one for our dinner.
We popped into a couple more pubs then went for our fish and chips at Trencher's, it was absolutely gorgeous, I'll certainly be going again the next time I'm in town, highly recommended.
Here's a few more shots from the night:
I love this view as you get to the bottom of the 199 steps, as you walk onto the street you are surrounded by really old buildings, on a week night, when the tourists go home, the streets are almost deserted, you can easily think you are in another time, especially when you hear all the distant church bells ringing on the hour.
I didn't take my camera due to the weather, although I think my GF was happy about that lol, so all the shots in this post were shot using an Apple iPhone pro 14, I have to admit, it's a great camera, but certainly won't replace my Sony.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend :-)
All the best :-)
