Last week I had a trip over to Castleton and had a walk up Mam Tor and along the great ridge.
I got some lovely shots but I wanted to go back for some sunset shots, one of the reasons I wanted to get over is that we have smoke in the atmosphere from wildfires of Canada, the previous nights sky was so red and surreal and I was hoping that this would have been the case last night.
It had been rather windy all day and I was contemplating taking the drone over for a few shots but with the wind I changed my mind, more on that later.
Time was getting on and we didn't set off until nearly 7pm, which gave us a good bit of time to get there for sunset as it's not until around 9.30pm.
We parked up in the Mam Nick carpark, and headed up the Tor, as we got up there the wind was constant and freezing cold, it must have been at least a 40mph wind, which never died down.
Due to my rush to get there, I'd forgot to take my jacket, so I was there in just a t-shirt and jeans.
I was absolutely freezing stood on the mountain, I did hold out for a good 45 minutes waiting for the nicer light, but as the sun fell it the wind was getting colder and colder, sadly I called it a day, as we were driving home, the sun went a gorgeous deep red colour, although I am happy with the shots I got, I wish I could have held out just that little bit longer lol.
All shots done using a Sony A7iii and a Canon 24-105mm F/4.0 L Lens using the Sigma MC-11 adaptor, processed in Lightroom.
