It's not like how you see it on the tv, I thought to myself with a little smile on my face, but I'd finally made it, I'd finally got to California, although not to get anyones hopes up, it wasn't California in the USA.
I've been staying in Norfolk in the UK, I have to admit, I could live there, it's lovely, especially when you get into the countryside, it is really a beautiful county, I do love the wind pumps and windmills too.
So while I was there, I was looking at the maps and saw California, it was about 1.2km from where I was staying and the walk was straight down the beach, the day before I headed home, I decided to do the walk.
As I walked down the beach, I was walking along the old sea wall, I could only imagine how far down the beach was in the old days as there were steps there that disappeared deep into the sand, but councils now days seem to be letting the sand build back up and covering the old infrastructure, they say this is for natural sea defences, but further up the beach at Hemsby, people's houses have been washed into the sea due to coastal erosion.
Walking up to California, the sun was shining, the sea was blue, and I think it does resemble an environment much hotter than it actually is here in the UK, however, it was a lovely hot late summer/early spring day, so not overpowering, but hot enough for butterflies, which there was that many seeing them was like confetti at a wedding, numerous dragon flies etc, it was wonderful to see.
I got to a set of steps leading up from the beach with a sign advertising a cafe, I thought to myself "I must be here", so I headed up the steps not knowing what to expect at the top.
With what I could see, it was mainly a street with a couple of cafe's on and a pub, but, it was Californ-I-A!! I couldn't find the Hollywood sign though lol.
I was going to buy something from the chippy, however it close about 20 minutes before I got there, gutted.
So I headed into the pub that's there, aptly named the California Tavern, I was a bit too hot to have a beer, so I bought a coke and some pork scratchings.
Ooh the pork scratchings tasted so good, so did the coke as I was ready for the drink.
After I finished the drink, I decided to have a steady walk back to my caravan, but I can now say it, I've now been to California!!
California, I'll be manifesting that I could travel here💗💕
Wow, how I wish I can go to California too
Wow, what a beautiful view
