Above and Beyond

Just saying “Above and Beyond” sounds so exciting. That’s because it is! Generally speaking, while on a hiking trail, you are ascending not descending (of course the return trip back to your starting point will be descending). Making your way along the trail through the trees, then into the open hills and beyond can be so magical. Especially if it your first time, and not exactly sure what to expect beyond the horizon. This is when it also feels good to have bear spray in your front pocket, ready to use at a moments notice, if necessary. Thankfully I have never needed to use any yet.

Those larch trees are amazing in autumn. I wish we had those around here. Finding those beautiful places is magical, I love finding fields full of wildflowers along the way.

Bear spray is always a must, bears are not commonly seen but if you come across one you will be glad you have it!
