Nestled in the mountainous region of east British Columbia, and inside Kootenay National Park, is Radium Hot Springs. First discovered in 1841 by Sir George Simpson, governor of the Hudson’s Bay company. Fast forward to 1890, an Englishman purchased the spring for $140, hoping to bottle and sell the spring water. Not sure how successful or unsuccessful he was. 24 years in, he then built a bathing pool and bathhouse, things took off, and the rest is history so to speak. Apparently there was a disastrous accident in the 1960’s, some type of fuel spillage and subsequent fire badly damaged the area, and it had to be rebuilt. Along with the hot spring, there is also a cold pool (which mostly is empty as the majority of people want the hot springs pool…wouldn’t you?).

What a great facility, an actual pool filled from the spring. I can see why it's so popular! The other pool would be great to swim laps and get in some exercise, then relax in the hot spring! Sure it pretty there!
It’s fun to go back and forth. Hot to cold, hot to cold. We found where the hot water specifically enters the pool and sat there, it was nice.
At first glance from the photos, it is definitely an excellent place to spend a great day with the family, or with your partner, I would also spend it in the hot springs pool.
