Almost flower time already?!?!
Man, I really love autoflowers. It seems like just yesterday that I put these in their larger pots and they are already showing signs of preflower.
The two purple lemonades have already begun their stretch and will continue to stretch for about another week.
Those long branches are ready for some supercroppers to push them down a bit, which will help them to grow a bit sideways and not as upwards and close to the main stem.
So after I got the super croppers on, it was time to try something new. I have two purple lemonades, so I am going to cut all the little side branches off and force the plant to focus all the energy on making buds on fewer branches. This should result in much larger and dense buds since the plant does not have to spend energy making as many bud sites.
So all of these little branches that have formed will. be getting snipped off and any new branches that form over the next couple weeks will be cut as well.
And it's gone.
I also took the time to top the two purple lemonades and the purple punch. The bubblegum is lagging behind a bit and I will be topping that one when it is ready.
The reason I am topping them is to keep the plant from getting too tall and to essentially create tops out of all of the branches that are left. It helps to create an even canopy for even light distribution as well. Instead of the plant being like 3 feet tall, I can keep them much shorter and all of the branches grow to be somewhat of the same height.
Having them the same height ensures that all of the flowering sites get a good amount of light to them, instead of just the very top of the plant getting all the light and the lower sites being starved.
This purple lemonade is all ready for flower now. It will take a few days for it to fully recover from all the stress I put on it this morning, but I have high hopes for this one to produce some awesome buds.
I had a bit of an accident when I was trying to take the old supercroppers off of the purple punch and snapped the branch while trying to get the supercropper free.
I try and reuse them as much as I can, but I really need to just order some more of them from the guys over at @bifbeans because it always sucks when you snap off one of your flowering branches like this. It isn't that big of a deal though because the plant will just divert the nutrients to the other branches when it begins flowering, so it really isn't a waste when it happens this early. If it had already started producing flower, than it would be a different story.
Early I had mentioned that my bubblegum was lagging behind. It is much smaller and more dense than the other plants, but I am sure it is just genetics and I wouldn't really notice if I was growing a tent full of bubblegum.
The one thing I needed to address today is the large fan leaves that are essentially blocking any light from getting below them though. Ever since I started using the Kelp nutrient during veg cycle, my fan leaves are massive. This is good because it helps the plants grow a lot stronger and larger, but if left on for much longer, I feel it could stunt the growth of anything underneath them.
There is a lot of growth under the huge leaves, but they don't really have anywhere to go because the massive leaves are blocking any upwards growth.
So I made the decision to cut the leaves off to open up more space for those branches. Once I did that, I noticed that some of the leaves that were growing underneath were a bit odd. So hopefully now that they are getting the light they need, they fan out better and don't look so weird.
My bubblegum looks a lot better now without those massive leaves weighing it down and blocking all the light. I think over the next week, I will see some major growth from this plant. This one isn't showing the early signs of flower yet like the others, and I really think that those leaves were holding it back.
By the end of the day, the bent branches will have started to correct themselves and begin pointing back up to the lights. This next week is going to be pretty cool to see how much growth happens, because this is really when they begin to take off and get ready for flower.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my grow. Hopefully you enjoyed the images and maybe even learned something along the way.
Man the LST clips make such a difference
Good idea of taking the small pop corn nugs off, I did this to my last 2 plants and it paid off. I had only about a Q of crap buds with far more nice tight ones.
I hope it ends up working out better for me. The smaller popcorn buds are so dumb and annoying to trim.
Yeah they are, I normally leave them for canna coconut oil, sugar leaves don't matted in that
Good thinking
Beautiful plants and you do such a great job of taking care of them and replanting them.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks homie
Don't know if it's the photo's contrast and saturation, but the green looks too dark. Meaning the plants got too much nitrogen which can lead to a smaller yield. Good luck with those beauties!
It's the way I edit my cannabis photos that makes them look like that. I wouldn't be surprised if I get between a half pound to 3/4 a pound from these plants.
Definitely, with that space 40g/plant should be the bare minimum.
I am hoping for about 3 times that per plant.
Hell yeah! Get we done lol looks great!!
Exactly!
Interesting to read how you tend to them
Looking forward to seeing an update when they flower
I've learned a lot over the past year that I have been growing. We have an awesome cannabis community here on Hive that has a ton of knowledge.
That’s great 👍
I am impressed by your gardening skills.
And your paraphernalia for gardening is over the top,
which goes to show the love you put unto those plants.
Kudos!
Thanks. I've gotta take care of the plant that takes care of me.
Man some awesome looking plants. I think they are beautiful.
Thanks
