No doubt spring is the most marvelous time of year in Japan. But these past few years, the rain has put a damper on Ohanami (cherry blossom viewing and picnics). The past weekend was supposed to be the major weekend to view the cherry blossoms as well as the weekend coming up but the forecast for this and last week is rain.
Spring is a very important time in Japan as it is the start of the new fiscal year; people change jobs, students change grades/schools and people get fired. Ohanami is important in this change as it gives people time to unwind, meet up with friends and just blow off some steam.
Since I didn’t get to do any picnics in the park or BBQ with friends and fam last weekend, I decided to take a walk after lunch as it wasn’t raining though overcast. I brought my camera along though the light didn’t give me much motivation, I snapped some shots. All photos were edited using the Adobe Lightroom app. The cover photo is my favorite as it shows various colors of spring.
My next favorite is the statue pointing at the sakura, I feel it was strategically placed there to capture the sakura moment but that could just be my perspective. There were a few elder couples doing Ohanami under the trees. Can you spot them?
Nice photos @dmilliz. The statue looks like someone is getting a good back and leg stretch while hiding/sheltering the other person. 😜Maybe it was raining earlier and the stretch was the way to provide shelter. The one below feels safer when covered. The one above feels free, is one with nature and kinda wanted to buss a Bolt pose.😂🤣
Haven’t really seen the sakura yet. Just glimpses so far. Hoping to do so over the weekend. Hope di rain work wid mi. Lol!
“Stretch to provide shelter” chivalry nuh dead at all 😂
You were sounding like a real art interpreter until the bolt part 😂
Is tief mi tied out lunch time and guh ohanami 😂 i Hope it don’t rain this weekend either, bbq a wait pon me 🤤.
Fulljoy the season and start of the “new year”
🤣🤣Just seeing this. Have been so busy. Lots of newness on our end. Son graduated, starts JHS next week. Newness at work etc.
Yes man, chivalry is alive. Lol!
🤣🤣Di Bolt part show up mi true colors. Not an art interpreter at all. Lol!
Is a gud ting Yu ketch some sakura. Now dem jus gaan soh.

Oh is it the same as what we know as the Summer vacation or Big vacation in the Caribbean? It's definitely another cycle from what I know.
I definitely want to get old like those elder and enjoy the beauty around me, in good health of course hehehe.
Not quite, for the kids kinda but adults mostly have work, between jobs or looking for work. But because the weather finally gets warm and the blossoms are out it’s the perfect time to be outdoors and the picnics under the Sakura tree is a big part of the culture.
Trust me, get old and basically do what you doing now on weekends anytime of week.
Ah so, interesting.
That's the goal! 💪
I see the government world wide pushing the retirement age further and further away, like a carrot on a stick. But we crypto people know better.
Yeah, we prepare.
Does the pushing of the retirement age also apply for Jamaica? I wouldn't be surprised for Japan though. Same here in the Netherlands.
In Suriname it's still 60 so far, but that's also because there's also a "young" population. And still those in power exceeded that age.
Awesome shots! Love the sakura pathway! That's really a lot!
It was really raining on the weekend but still you got these great photos!
The pathway was so long, I like how the planned it out to look awesome in the season. The weather is great today so I'm planning to go back out. Thanks for stopping by.
Agree! The weather is great today, time to check out some cherry blossoms!
My interpretation of the pucture is that life is beautiful. Well, we do not experience spring period here in my country.
Same with the country of my birth, it's spring and summer all year round. It's interesting to see the seasons though.
Awesome shots! Gotta love some Japan
Thanks man! Japan has a real mystic to her ✨
Spring seems to be the real start of the new year according to nature 😉
