I'm lucky enough to have a few ponds and lakes in my village. It's always quite interesting what is happening on the water. There are several families there at the moment, starting with the mallard family.
We parked up in the restaurant car park. They allow you to park for free if you are just having a brief walk around the lido. I think they hope you will pop in for a drink ... or two.
The swans still have three surviving cygnets. They did have six originally, but it's quite common for some cygnets not to survive either with not being strong enough, infection, or have been taken by predators.
They look very cute and hope they all survive. The weather is nice and warm for them at the moment.
A couple of coots were having a fight. They do tend to like a good argument and a chase. It's usually over territory or food, even if there is plenty for all of them. They'd rather chase another coot off and miss out on food themselves.
There's quite a few damselflies flitting about the reeds. I've yet to see any dragonflies this year though.
You can just see the many little insects called 'water striders' that walk on top of the water.
It's an easy walk, and you can also sit on one of the benches and watch the birdlife go about their day to day lives.
