"I found it in the mountains," said the message written on the envelope in which the SD card came. It wasn't the first time I had been left a card anonymously, but it was the first time its contents seemed so strange to me.
"La encontré en la montaña", decía el mensaje escrito en el sobre en el que venía la tarjeta SD. No era la primera vez que me dejaban una tarjeta de forma anónima, pero sí era la primera vez que su contenido me parecía tan raro.
They were not abnormally strange photos, but the nature of their existence intrigued me greatly. Their metadata showed that they were captured over the course of 10 minutes, they had not been edited by any software, and their coordinates were from sites far apart.
No eran fotos anormalmente extrañas, pero la naturaleza de su existencia me intrigó mucho. En sus metadatos aparecía que fueron capturadas a lo largo de 10 minutos, no habían sido editadas por ningún software, y sus coordenadas eran de sitios muy alejados entre sí.
I imagine the camera was defective, or they used some kind of filter, because I have no other reason to explain the unreal tones of the photos. If the camera was defective it would explain the metadata being corrupted, but what if it wasn't?

I feel like I became obsessed. I woke up one morning after having spent the whole night dreaming of places like the ones in the pictures. Places that look ordinary, but with something that doesn't fit or seems strange. This didn't stop me from seeing the pictures over and over again, day after day.
Siento que me obsesioné. Desperté una mañana luego de haber pasado toda la noche soñando con sitios como los de las fotos. Sitios que parecen comunes, pero con algo que no encaja o parece extraño. Esto no impidió que viera las imágenes una y otra vez, día tras día.
One afternoon I fell asleep at my desk and dreamed again about the images, but this time it was me in one of those places. I had a camera in my hand and felt like I wanted to take pictures, but I woke up before I did.
Una tarde me quedé dormido en mi escritorio y soñé otra vez con las imágenes, pero esta vez estaba yo en uno de esos sitios. Tenía una cámara en la mano y sentí que quería tomar fotos, pero me desperté antes de hacerlo.
It all clicked in my head one night. I dreamt I was in a wooded, foggy place. Again I had the camera in my hand, but this time I took the picture.
I woke up and had the feeling that I should check the SD card one more time. To my surprise, there was a new photo inside.
Todo hizo click en mi cabeza una noche. Soñé que estaba en un sitios boscoso, con neblina. Otra vez tenía la cámara en la mano, pero ésta vez tomé la foto.
Desperté y tenía la sensación que debía revisar la tarjeta SD una vez más. Para mi sorpresa, había una foto nueva en su interior.
I don't know how, but this SD can capture dreams. I know it may sound crazy, but I'm sending it to you to confirm my theory, I know you are a photography lover like me. I just wanted to get rid of the SD because it was already affecting my sleep, but it seems too valuable to throw away.

No sé cómo, pero esta SD puede capturar los sueños. Sé que puede sonar loco, pero te la envío para confirmar mi teoría, sé que eres amante de la fotografía como yo. Solo quise deshacerme de la SD porque ya me estaba afectando mi sueño, pero me parece muy valiosa para botarla.
Si estoy en lo cierto y te pasa como a mí, expandirás la galería, pero no te quedes mucho tiempo con ella.
