Some of you may think I'm attending art exhibitions all day, every day as a lot of my posts are about art. Even though I go to a lot of exhibitions, I'm not doing it all day, every day. I like to visit as many as possible as the artworks you see are wonderful and can broadens your horizons and motivate you to try and bring out your hidden talents.
The Unitarian church is hosting two exhibitions this week. One was the one I posted about yesterday. If you missed my post, you can check it out here. The other one is hosted by another church in Targu Mures (Marosvásárhely), that is situated at the Ferenc Dávid Ferenc street 1.
This is a new building with an interesting architectural style. Unfortunately at the time of my visit, there were reparation works in progress, so taking a half decent photo was out of the question.
The interior design is impressive as well. This is the conference, or meeting room if you like, that serves as exhibition room in such occasions.
The current exhibition is felt artworks by Anna Lajos. I don't know how much you know about felt art, so here's the definition, that explains you what it is.
Felt is a textile material that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together. Felt can be made of natural fibers such as wool or animal fur, or from synthetic fibers such as petroleum-based acrylic or acrylonitrile or wood pulp–based rayon. Blended fibers are also common. Natural fibre felt has special properties that allow it to be used for a wide variety of purposes. "It is fire-retardant and self-extinguishing; it dampens vibration and absorbs sound; and it can hold large amounts of fluid without feeling wet..." source
For me felt art was not new as I've seen quite a few artworks on the internet and have watched videos as well, about how it's done, have seen felt works at different craft markets, but have never seen an exhibition till now. Obviously I was interested to see it with my own eyes.
If you don't know anything about felt art, I'd recommend to watch this video, to have an idea about the process.
On my way to the church, I was thinking what could I possibly get there, as working with felt is not similar to working with paint or a pencil. I was thinking maybe flowers and landscapes and I was not wrong at all.
Again, pleas excuse the artworks' position on the wall. I tried my best, but since this is not a gallery, the artworks were on chain, therefore their position was not always the right one.
When I entered the room and had a quick look, I knew I will like what is displayed on the walls. The majority of the artworks were flowers, as expected. It's a shame I could not get some closer photos. The top artworks were above my head, so no chance for that. However, I'm telling you here, that after viewing and photographing everything, I went back to have a look at each artwork and decide which one is my favorite. The top one is one of them. It's a simple still life and I love it. It would look great on my orange wall.
The poppy flower is also nice and the green background makes it more vivid.
These are also nice, both of them. I like the color combination of the bottom one, it's so relaxing.
Themes are changing here as these are landscapes, but unfortunately reflection is taking away their artistic value.
And here's the other favorite of mine, the top one, which is a landscape you see if you go to the mountains. Those old houses, made of adobe, haystack next to the house, that was needed to feed the animals. Simple life.
I'll let you decide if this is a flower or kaleidoscope.
Mixing colors in felting is not so easy. You can dye the fibers to have different shades, but once it's done, there's no mixing.

This was a surprise, a nice one I may add. It seems so precise.
After visiting the exhibition I was thinking what did this exhibition give me and how I feel about it. I do this all the time, after visiting an exhibition. The truth is, I liked it a lot and now I know I'm going to try it out next year, hopefully. It doesn't seem complicated and with a little bit of talent, I think I can create something to proudly hang on my wall. I'll let you know if I get there.
This exhibition was with sale, you could buy the artworks if you wanted and a few were reserved already. This is an excellent way to help amateur artists and promote art by the way. I'm happy to see this initiative spreading. Next week there will be another exhibition and I can't miss that.

I'm not really a very visual person; I'm highly auditory and kinesthetic. So I rarely go into art galleries or museums because there's often nothing for me to listen to or touch/do. But I like being able to have a quick 'drive by' of the places you visit through your posts. It's like a get a tiny bit of visual and can leave when I'm done (after a few minutes not the several hours it often takes to do a gallery or museum justice).

Hmm, felt art, this is the first time hearing that there is an art called felt but then when I saw what they look like, I realized I've seen it before but I didn't know it was called felt 😉, thank you so much for bringing this to my knowledge 🙏.
From all of the felt you shared, I love the first flower photo but the second one with an orange color more. It looks so appealing to me and also it looks calm and... It was just it for me 👌😌.

By the way, I don't think it is bad to visit exhibition centers as often as you want, if that's what makes you happy then you can go for it.
There are small animals made of felt, those may be more known than paintings. Felt art is a bit different than the other type of arts, but I love it. I'm going to try it out one day :)

Requiring a high level of concentration and expertise for an art like this, I personally say that art by painting is easier than knitting art like this, but that is only my personal opinion as a layman in this field

These arts are really beautiful, I was inspired by your constant gallery visits, and so I actually got the courage to visit a smaller gallery, and it was fun even as small as it was.

I've never seen felt art before and they look different than normal. Like the colors are different. I don't know how to describe it, haha.

It depends on what you consider normal. As I said in my post, colors can't be mixed here as you can with paintings.

This has just opened up a whole new world to me, I've heard of felting to make little animals and things like cat toys, but I never knew about "painting" with felt. It looks like it would be a really relaxing past time. I feel like I've been missing out on something I would probably enjoy immensely.

Yes, felt is mostly known for those small toy animals, but there's so many you can create. Have you seen the scarves? Absolutely fabulous!
I suggest you try it out if you have the time and resources. I will one day, but first I want to make a painting 😂
I'd love to see your painting! I watched a YouTube on how to make flowers and I was blown away at the amount of detail you can capture in it. It's definitely something I'd probably get addicted to, I'll add it to my list of have to tries.
