Today I'm back again with another edition of my food porn series, not that I've been planning this to be a series, but you know how it is.
We had two family events recently and decided to celebrate it in a nice restaurant, because as much as we love home cooking and welcoming friends and family members in our homes, some events are too big to be hosted at home.
These unfortunately are not artistic photos for the cover of the magazine, because you can't hold off people from eating for your own pleasure, but I still want to show you what you can choose from, if you come to Transylvania.
As I mentioned in my previous post, if you haven't had breakfast, dinner, or whatever meal is coming for you, please skip my blog, go eat and come back after. If you don't listen to me, please don't complain after, that you're hungry 😆
Ok, let's see what I have in store for you today.
This is tripe stew with polenta and may be totally unknown for many of you. Tripe is a well known and liked food in Romania, but mostly you can find it as soup, while stew is very common in Hungary. To be honest, I've never seen stew on any menu till now and I have yet to taste it.
Tripe soup used to be the food of the poor in the 20th century. It was cheap and was the favorite of lorry drivers. Today it is among the most expensive soups on the menu. So I need to taste this. They say it's very good, but it's a bit too heavy for my stomach, but once is ok.
Next is bean soup with knuckle of pork in bread. This is a dish that is always calling my name, mostly for the bread. There's something about these soups served in bread. I had one this year, it was mushroom cream and very good. This one however, even if it's very good, which it is, it's really heavy.
This is the famous chicken soup, which I was told it's heavenly good, but as I only have one stomach and you can only have one serving of soup a day, I haven't had the pleasure to taste it yet. Usually it's served sprinkled with parsley, but the person requested it without it. This dish is on my list too :) The funny thing is, I am making chicken soup very often, but trying out what they offer is a different experience.
Roast duck leg with mashed onion potatoes and steamed cabbage. This was mt dish and was heavenly good. It's light and you can never go wrong with duck in my opinion. The steamed cabbage was amazing, the duck as well, the meat was so soft. I would have it any day.
Salmon steak with green salad and oven roasted sweet potatoes. This was also mine and I have mixed feelings about it. Sweet potato I'm not crazy about and mustard seeds either, but to my surprise, the salad sprinkled with mustard seeds was exceptionally good. The salmon seemed a bit too dry for me and the sweet potato won't be my favorite.
Breaded chicken breast with sesame seeds and salad. Most likely this is a dish known worldwide. I was told it was good and it looked good for sure.
I solemnly swear, I have no idea what this is, or was. At a close look, it looks like liver, but I'm not sure as I was not able to find it on the menu. So this is like a puzzle. Take a wild guess what it is as I can't tell you.
Spicy beef cheeks with mashed potatoes and breaded onion rings. Beef is good, I like it, but I don't like spicy food and although I's love to taste those onion rings as I've never had any so far, most likely next time I'm going to steal a ring from someone who orders this dish.
This post is getting too long, so I suppose this is the end and I'm going to show you the rest of the food photos I took, next time. I suppose this enough to make you drooling and hungry :)

I love so much the tripe stew, here in Tuscany is common to cook it (we call it "trippa") and it's so good!

Trust me, it was difficult to me to write this post and think of these dishes, so I'm glad I posted it finally. But it would be good to go back and taste some of the dishes I haven't tasted yet 😄

Spicy food is not good for the stomach, yet some cultures prefer to have their food very spicy.
The going to be awesome. There’s just something about edible bowls that makes food more delicious. And I totally get the struggle of only having one stomach, so many soups, so little time haha
The problem with restaurant portions is that they are way more than one person needs, but you eat it anyway because you paid for it. Then your stomach punishes you.
