My New Office

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

This morning I did something I've never done before. I've been planning to do this and this morning was the right time, so I did it.

I was thinking what if I can work somewhere else, other than the places I've been working till now. The weather is nice now, I mean there's a heat wave torturing Europe, us included, but if you're smart, you can catch the best period of the day to recharge your batteries and get through the day without any difficulty. That period is in the morning. Nights are still cool, thank God, so morning are chilly, which is perfect for our body to recover from the heat and the house to cool down.

Today is Sunday, people prefer to sleep in on these days, but as you can't have the cake and eat it too, I decided to give up on sleeping in and do what I've been planning, which is do this fun simulation.

Imagine going to the office walking down this alley every day, while you can not only benefit from the fresh air, but you can also enjoy the green over your head.

When I got to the medieval fortress, it was still early, there were only a few people there, which was perfect for my plan. I'm not a fan of crows, especially when I'm looking for calm and silence, not to mention privacy.

So as soon as I arrived, started looking for the best spot.

20220717_100214a.jpg

I set up my mobile office, which was the easiest thing to do. Now that we have laptops, we can work anywhere. Who has mobile internet can also work anywhere. I have my mobile WiFi, that allows me to work anywhere there's signal. The only thing is missing is electricity ☹️

My laptop is almost 3 years now, working perfectly thank you, have never had any problems with it, if I'm not counting the keyboard, that had to be repainted last year, but that's a minor problem and considering I have someone, who can refurbish my keyboard anytime, it's really not a problem. So after 3 years, the autonomy of the battery is not the same as it was when it was new.

So I was sitting there, looking at the view and thinking how would it be to work in such a milieu?

Then I gathered my things and went on to find my next station, which was this. Can you guess what it is?

It's a medieval well, that served to provide water to those sheltered in the fortress. There's still some water in it but it may be just rainwater, who knows.

What you see behind my laptops is a spice and herb garden.

These are medicinal plants, from oregano to eucalyptus, all kinds of herbs that serves as cure back in medieval times. Remember there were no pharmacies back then, these herbs were all they had to cure whatever illnesses were back then.

According to the plate, this happened in the 16th - 17th century. I loved it, it was genius.

This is lavender, which has been and still is widely used.

And look, I met a fellow Hive user, who was working hard, just like me 😂

And this is where the real fun began. This is the side door of the church, which was a Franciscan monastery once. At the time of my visit, there was the Sunday service going on inside and I could hear the service from outside.

Although most likely I could not sit there for long as this part was still in the shade and the stone is cold, would have been nice to sit there for awhile. I love that door, it really reminds you of medieval times.

The next cool place was this. These are the walls of the underground ovens, where the pots and bricks were made.

Or I could sit up there, on that open corridor, looking down on what is happening down there.

There were wooden benches up there, so anytime you feel the need for some privacy, that's the place.

And the coolest thing of the day were these two guys! They were having a sword practice. I did fencing when I was in elementary school and wasn't easy. This is even harder as those swords are quite heavy and you have to hold them with both hands.

To day was a lot of fun, even though it was just a photo shoot. I There are things that makes my dream impossible right now, one of which is having electricity where I would sit. Someone please invent something 🙂

I'm going to remember this day, when there will be cold outside and snowy, or just overcast and awful. Next week I'm going to do this in another medieval city as it's fun!

Hmm, someone is preparing for their nomadic journey hehe :) Nice! I have some of these "look at my new office" pictures as well, like most digital nomads I guess... you know, the fancy kind of poses with me pretending to work on my laptop sitting by the beach, by the pool etc. but the truth is those were really just poses! :D To be able to really focus on work and get stuff done, I need absolute peace and quiet with no distractions (be it visual or audio) so no matter how cool location I´m at, I always need to find some little remote quiet room to work :D I hope it won´t be your case too, hope you really will be able to work from all those cool places that you will get to once you start out the nomadic lifestyle :)

Sounds like you had a great Sunday! Though in this period of my life, sleeping is always the best choice! hahaha 🤣 and btw, last night I was awake from 4.30 a.m. to 6.30 a.m. because my little one had no sleep. 😭 thats why I chose sleep in 90% of the cases.

Anyways, I love the first spot, on the table! The view is nice, the green trees are nice as well! Great view! I'm sure the mornings there are perfect. I could sit there myself everyday for at least 2-3 hours, doing my stuff from my laptop!

Yeah, it's heavenly!💚 Now you kind of motivated me to try and get done our terrace! (well not me, but my husband hahahahaha) It's still in progress! hehe hopefully this year soon. If not, next year :-? 😕

Stunning location and I bet the lavender gave off a nice smell.
Nice office, here's my temporary office at the bow of my boat.😆
