I'll take your brain to another dimension, pay close attention!

Readers may recognise the title for this post from The Prodigy's Out of Space single. I thought this title was appropriate for the main image in this post. To get one's head around how this shot was created usually leads to puzzlement or disbelief. Maybe this post is a complaint about the prolific use of AI in photography? I specialise in creating images in one photographic exposure and find myself having to explain that the images I create are made in one photographic exposure and are not the results of any AI interference!

Semi-rant over.....

These shots were made on a night out at Harboro Rocks in Derbyshire's Peak District taking advantage of the epic foggy conditions covering most of the UK at the time.

In memory of Keith Flint

This is a shot which has been on my to do list all year long since I saw these concrete steps over at Harboro Rocks. I've not been back here in quite a while and tonight was the perfect excuse to nail it.

This is a camera rotation image where the camera is rotated during a continuous, single exposure. No Photoshop or any of that AI nonsense! (See what I mean, I felt the need to repeat myself!!)

Move the camera

I tend to shoot several versions of the same thing and here we added a flashlight beam and repositioned the aim of the camera. Only slight adjustments can make a huge difference.

Spill the light

I posted this as an example of needing to adjust the pose of the model. Holding the flashlight in the right hand meant the light cast by the beam lit up the model's face. A long exposure with a flashlight can lead to motion blur on the face which is never a good look! We switched hands after this.

Messianic Maniac

It wouldn't be normal for me not to take advantage of these brutalist looking concrete structures in the dark.

As we shot these, the fog was starting to lift making the stars break through the haze.

Messianic Selfie

I don't often appear in my own lightpainting images, but in testing the exposure and colour options, it has to be done. This was shot with an LED panel instead of a flashgun which generally leads to model wobble. Holding still for 8 or 10 seconds isn't the easiest thing to do!

Alien Abduction please

2024 has been a horrible year for me. So if it could be arranged for me to be abducted by aliens and taken to another planet that would be appreciated, thank you!

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex, landscape and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; the social side of photography is always good!

Fantastic work matey, brilliant stuff 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Cheers pal, I wanna go back on the next foggy night and do this again! I can't believe Harboro isn't more popular than it is. Way better than Stanage Edge for walkers and even better at night!

I’m gonna have to check it out mate, I’ve not been there myself.

I love the pictures!! The game between shadows and light is amazing!

Thanks @belug I love shooting in fog :-)
