The monastery overlooking the lake was the next obvious stop. But not before I look and shoot the scenery around me a bit more and take a closer look to the horses that were expecting a client to ride them. It looked that after the foggy start we were going to have a glorious day with plenty of sunshine. Climbing to a higher point of view seemed like a good idea and the monastery seemed to be in a perfect location for that!
Not to mention that we had heard that there is a sweet treat for all the visitors :)
The distance from the lake's shore was short. You can see the building of the monastery in the picture above, right in the centre. We just had to make up our mind to get in the car and start moving again. Not an easy decision to leave such beauty behind but we were surely going to find more worth-seeing sights ahead!
The view was majestic indeed and although the sun was not in our favour I did enjoy a couple of panoramic shots.
At the entrance we met one of the two monks that live there and he was kind enough to tell us a lot about the history of the place. I am ashamed to admit though, that I have forgotten most of it!
I do remember though that the building is more than 300 years old and it was built there after some major floods that led to abandon the original monastery which is now at the bottom of the lake and move to a higher and safer location.
When we entered the treat was there as we were told. It is a traditional sweet made with sugar and rose petals from the monastery's rosebushes. A very special flavour with the aroma of roses!
And the view from the top floor was even better! I can't imagine the feeling to wake up and have this view on your window.
We left determined to keep going up to the mountain until the snow or the darkness stops us. It turned out that it was the snow. The snow and the lack of traffic that would make the roads easier to pass. At around 4 o'clock in the afternoon we reached a village that looked almost deserted and frozen. We stopped for a snack in the car and thought that it was the time to end our small adventure.
We were two hours away from home, the sea and a completely different reality. A reality that may include even swimming in the sea and sunbathing :)
That was the fourth and last part of an impulsive trip that we had last weekend and turned out very abundant in experiences as well as in photographs!

The place is magical and I understand you perfectly on the part of forgetting almost everything... it happens to me many times because I'm attentive to the images and busy soaking up the magic and my ears get stuck. Hahaha... something like that... hey, rose sweet... 🙃 (I hope I don't end up with my neighbour's roses)
