Except for the eyes

Marcos is a rescue dog so we don't know the exact date he was born but according to the vet he has his birthday this month. He was found wounded by some friends who are very caring for stray animals and looked after him, until he was not in danger any more. But they couldn't keep him longterm so they were looking for someone to adopt him. And then @traisto saw him and loved him at first sight. The rest is history!

I have to admit that I was reluctant to have another dog at the time but he is such a kind and loving creature, that earned his place in our home and in our hearts, very quickly.

Look at him how seriously he has taken his modelling duties :)

But he was a very serious puppy altogether. He never did all those goofy things that most puppies usually do. You know what I mean. Chewing shoes, destroying furniture, running non stop around the house etc, etc. All those things that are expected from a young dog but unacceptable from a grown up, well trained, canine companion.

Well Marcos seemed to have missed that age, somewhere between survival and abuse. Imagine our surprise when we returned home one day, a whole year after we had taken him in and found him sitting on hundreds of little pieces that used to be the sofa's pillows!

Fortunately this was one isolated event that was never repeated. We can even say that he got over the puppy misbehaviour phase, in one afternoon :)

But as he was growing older and I guess, more confident that the austerity days are behind, he became more cheerful and playful. As I write this lines he is seven years old and people still asks us on the street if he is a puppy!

Except for the eyes.

We went to a new doctor the other day and the first question he made was:

Did he always had that eyes?

Meaning of course this sad, melancholic look he usually has. After all this years that we live together, I still can't be sure if, deep down, he has a sadness beneath his playful attitude or if it is just the way he looks!

I took those photographs, five years ago when he was two years old, using one studio flash with a soft box on the right and a reflector on the left.
I have shared some other pictures from that shooting, in this post. I have followed a different editing approach in this one, so you might find it interesting to make the comparison.

The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 6D mark II with an EF 50mm f1.8 STM lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

All the pictures and the words are mine.

You can tell they are family, I can see it in the look in their eyes... genius! Greetings to @traisto.

But let me tell you something: dogs are very sensitive creatures. And they don't forget. Marcos may feel sad deep down, but who doesn't?

You are probably right.

@traisto always loves to hear that someone sees a resemblance :)

Cheers!
