Eh, mr Calucci, you have mail!
I should have written this in Croatian but I am afraid that the only Balkan language I ever learned, is Greek! Nevertheless I thought that it was a nice way to open this post :)
By the way, isn't it a lovely letterbox?
I don't remember what the house looked like but I do love this small detail. Which brings us to the topic I want to talk about, today. How much do we remember from our trips and what kind of memories do we hold as the years pass by? And the photographs? Do they help us put together the puzzle of memories or do they lead us in a false version of reality?

Those questions came to my mind as I was editing those pictures that are taken a lot of years ago. In August of 2008, if I want to be precise. That's a lot of years and the memories that I have from that trip have faded away but what triggered me is that, in many occasions, are quite different from the pictures!
I mean the pictures are there as an undeniable proof that I, not only, was there but I also took the shot. But I don't remember most of the things that I photographed and I recall a lot of other details that are not saved anywhere else than in my mind. And maybe the mind of @traisto that was with me during the whole trip :)
The pictures was valuable though, in my try to recreate the route that I am showing you today. I kept them in chronological order, as they were taken. So if I am not mistaken and please correct me if you recognise a place otherwise, the first ones are in Vrsar, the three ones above are in Zadar, below are the wonderful waterfalls of Krka and the last ones are in Split. This was only a few days from the one month long, road trip that we did in Croatia and the only thing I am regretting, is that I hadn't taken a camera with me!
point and shoot with her and when the photographer's bug hit me, I had something to play with! Let me remind you that it was 2008 and back then, at least in Greece, phones were only making calls. It was a few years later that I got my first smart phone with a basic camera!Fortunately, @traisto had a small digital
As for the memories they are a bit different than expected! Those waterfalls are for sure amazing but I don't really remember them, while I have a lot of vivid memories from Zadar but very few pictures. My impression of Split is that I didn't really liked it but it looks quite charming in the pictures. In general I can resonate with very few pictures, associating them with actual memories. The rest are there to remind me that my memory is not very strong after all :)
In a couple occasions the photographs did help me to remember, like the night shots above that reminded me a lovely night that we had a few beers too many :)
But there are so many of them that they remind me absolutely nothing that it makes me wonder if I should be more careful when I choose what to document. Because after some years the pictures are becoming memories. Like in the movie Memento where the main character has a form of amnesia and guides himself with notes and tattoos to read when he'll have forget.
Without any memories of my own I have to believe my younger self who is sending me those pictures from the past, just like the notes in the movie. Now those pictures are my memories, from the places I have forgotten and if I my younger photographic eye distorted the truth a bit, there is nothing I can do :)
The camera that I used is an Olympus SP-550 UZ. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic
All the pictures and the words are mine.

Hey, I haven't had anything like that happen to me yet, not remembering a trip, places, etc... I think it must be because I rarely drink beer 😄.
Very nice shots! ✨
Haha, maybe it's the beer :)
