The brave ones

IMG_8546.jpg

In my previous post I was walking on the snow and in this one I am lying down on the beach. The distance between those two opposite situations, is only a two-hours drive. As long as it takes to go from the mountains of Corinthia to the beaches of Argolida!

Especially this particular beach that is located just a few hundred meters away from the town centre of Nafplio and is a favourite spot for winter swimmers.

But even people that are not brave enough to get into the cold water are coming here. To chill and enjoy the sun that is shining most of the days. Winter or not, we are still in Greece :)

Of course, our very own @traisto is among the brave ones! Do you recognise her in the pictures?

It is, after all, her home town and she has to set an example! Myself, on the other hand, I prefer sunbathing and taking pictures :)

And enjoying the view of course. The combination of the small beach, the steep hillside and the castle above it, is simply unbeatable!

When it comes to taking pictures, I prefer it in the winter. The light is better, the sea is calmer and the beach less crowded. Not to mention that the beach bar is closed and all the umbrellas and sunbeds are taken away, leaving all the space free to move and enjoy!

The only one that wasn't so pleased with the arrangement was Marcos, our dog, who would prefer (of course) to be off leash and run all over the beach undistributed and uncontrolled :)

Above the beach, there is also the old, abandoned hotel. I have written a couple of posts about it. It is unbelievable how it is left to decay when it is built on such a wonderful location. Anyway I still go up there once in a while if not for anything else, to enjoy the view of the beach from above :)

I took those pictures on two separate days in January 2025.
The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 850D with an EF-S 18-135mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Aww...nice. So beautiful, I am with you with the less crowded beaches. I didn't recognize @traisto, is that her coming out of the water?? The water is so clear. The picture where the railing is going into the water looked like a pool. Beautiful.

Yes, that's her! The sea in the winter looks indeed much nicer than in the summer but still I prefer staying out :)

I envy you for this place. It's cold where I live now as it's winter and wherever you go, it's the same cold, even at the beach.

The photos are lovely and Marcos is adorable.

I am glad you liked them and Marcos says thanks :)

The water is super clear - great shots 👍

What was the temperature?

The sea temperature is around 16°C and a couple of degrees more, on the outside.

Not too bad.

For north Europeans, this is almost summer but we call it winter :)

I get it.
