I took the first couple of pictures from the car's window but I wasn't very happy with myself. For some reason I felt a bit awkward stopping the car to photograph. Considering that this used to be my work for many years, I couldn't figure out why it felt so weird. I know the drill. I have done it hundreds, if not thousands of times. And yet, now that it was just for pleasure and not for work, I couldn't get the hang of it.
I drove a few more minutes enjoying the scenery. The light fog, the snow on the mountain tops and the sun that was constantly shinning or hiding, made it even more mysterious, even more intriguing!
And suddenly it felt right.
I turned off the engine and stepped out of the car with the camera in my hand. The unfortunate fact that lake Stymphalia was almost dry, didn't make the scenery any less wonderful. The rural landscape helped me get over my "photographer's block" in no time and invited me to capture it with no further delay!
It has been quite some time since the last time I have found myself in an unknown place, exploring new routes. It's not that I don't travel, I do. But mostly in familiar places. Which are great. But they don't offer the thrill of the unknown. A place that you haven't visited before has always something new to offer. Let alone when it is so beautiful as this mountainous route that @traisto and myself have chosen.
Corinthia. So instead of going from Athens to Nafplio in two hours, we made a large detour, we spend the night in a lovely village and arrived to our destination 28 hours later! This was a mini roadtrip that came out of the blue. Actually it was an idea that @traisto had, to leave the motorway and wander at the mountains of
We have lived our lives in places that snow is very rare so an excursion closer to a snowy landscape is exotic in our eyes! On the other hand we don't have any snow related skills, like driving on snow or even walking on snow. And this trip was made exactly as we wanted it to be. Enough snow to enjoy it but not too much to block the roads and make moving difficult.
The perfect detour :)

While reading you and scrolling through the photos I could only think: how beautiful is the snow!
What a great detour! Hugs to you both!
Yes, snow gives for sure a beautiful sight!
Thank you very much.
Cheers :)
The photos are beautiful as I always have to tell you. I see the world through your lens and that's great, because on this island we have no other choice.😅 hahaha
...and the plan couldn't be better, deviating from the usual path is something I tend to do all the time. Bravo to @traisto for this. Greetings.
Thank you, I am glad you liked them!
I can't help noticing though, the bitterness about the situation in your country that many Cubans here express. And it makes me sad because although I have never been to your island, I feel it and its people very close to me. A lot closer than the European countries that are close to Greece and supposedly share the same boarders and values.
Cheers!
Yes, it really saddens the soul when you have dreams and they cannot be developed. Or worse, that you have to completely abandon your land by force in order to live. But the human being prevails, you know. At some point we will not be imprisoned in our own minds.
But do not grieve, it is also in the idiosyncrasy of the Cuban to complain about everything, there are many years of experience and sometimes we can not help it. Hahahahahahahahaha
When I leave Cuba I have a big list of places where I would like to go and many thanks to your photos. Huge greetings.
I hope you'll go to all the places on your list and if you want to go back, it would be in a Cuba with much less problems than today.
And if I ever visit your island, I'll have the chance to listen first hand some of those Cuban complaints :)
Boy, you're going to get bored of hearing complaints. But still, I don't know why they like to come. It must be because of the warmth of the people as you say.
... and if one day I go aaaaa...eh! where are you really from?😅

wow - I can never say enough to match what I feel when I see your photos.
Amazing places, sorry to have never been there.
Really, how did you take the photos from the car window; With a camera or a mobile;
It was the first time for me too and I promised myself to explore more of this area!
I used a camera, I wrote the model at the end of the post.
That spontaneous trip turned out so nicely! Lots of good moments out there :)
Yes, it was very nice!
Thank you for stopping by @gabrielatravels :)
Happy to do so ☺️
What you are doing really requires consistency and hard work. It makes sense to me that your shots are very good. Of course I am inspired by your photos.
Thank you for stopping by @naisfreedom :)
These photos are very detailed. I like how you took them. What camera do you use?
I am glad you liked them! I wrote what camera I used, at the end of the post :)
Oh, I haven't read the last part. Peace.
Cheers :)
These photos are simply glorious! 👏
Thank you Sofia, I am glad you liked them! That scenery was a revelation for myself too :)
Life has something even beautiful to offer even at its detours. :) Amazing experience! ♡
It was amazing indeed!
Thank you for stopping by @freshness143 :)
The view was enticing! :)
What a magic place!
Thank you for stopping by @lifelately :)
