Greetings! The name of the post corresponds to reality and this applies to many cities that heroically survived the Second World War. Each city is unique in its own way. There are cities with a rich history and Minsk is one of these cities. Today I decided to tell and show you the capital of Belarus.
Anyone who has ever heard of Minsk knows about its "gate". They are two 11-storey towers that greet those who leave the railway station.
The buildings are built in the Stalinist style. Construction was completed in the 1950s, but they initially looked different. The buildings were decorated with various elements indicating his relationship to the Soviet Union. But over time, the elements of the building began to deteriorate and now the building looks different.
In the area of the city center, the buildings' facades are decorated with interesting elements. They will remind you of Rome. But this is more a rarity than a regularity.
In the area of the main street there are many attractions of the city. One of them is the Church of St. Simeon and St. Helena. The church, built at the beginning of the 19th century, is a bright symbol of the capital of Belarus.
The facades of many buildings on Independence Avenue look monumental and eye-catching. The harsh buildings of Stalin's time look harsh.
The state pharmacy is also located there. It is interesting that a fake doctor sits at the entrance to the pharmacy with various medicines from the past.
The buildings of the National Bank of Belarus are also located further down the avenue. Its facade is similar to the facades of buildings throughout the avenue. But it looks very interesting.
However, having got used to the familiar style of facades, more modern buildings meet us further.
Another hallmark of the city of Minsk is Victory Square. This place is immortalized by the exploits of the people who died during the Second World War. It is a popular tourist destination.
Among other things, Minsk is decorated with works by street artists. For example, this mural was painted by an artist from England. Shown here is a Belarusian woman in a mix of old and modern clothing styles.
This is just a part of what I managed to capture in Minsk. I liked this atmospheric and big city. Like all cities, it has its own atmosphere.
