Accompanied by living stones... and other livings

On the list of some of the most unique parts of Romania which I managed to discover during my hundreds of trips taken within this territory, there are also the so-called living stones.

My first interaction with such a stone was somewhere in 2017 in Horezu which was pretty close to where I was living back then and managed to discover them by mistake. Seven years later, I, along with my family and boyfriend had the same destination in search of nostalgic places that turned us into travel addicts and storytellers.

It has also been a good opportunity to bring my boyfriend to such a location since he always found these interesting but never got the chance to see them other than in pictures.

Even if the first article about this place was published on Steem in 2018, I'd like to still send you on here for more information about the stones, their legends, and other interesting aspects, since I try to avoid recycling my content. Does anyone remember about the Steem times anyway?

But in short, I am speaking about stones that are more familiar under the name of trovants and which are presented under an uncommon shape and texture and are believed to grow a few millimetres every few years.

There are also rumours that these might bring bad energy and create trouble, which is quite the opposite of other sayings that present trovants as bringing luck in those houses that own one.

However, getting to actually own one is pretty hard since there are no small ones to be found around but only large ones, and it's illegal to get one home since they are part of a protected area anyway.

The open-air museum of trovants from Horezu is not the only place in Romania where the living stones can be found, but also in Ulmet from Buzau county. This place is actually a more recent experience meeting trovants, where the shapes are even more impressive, some of them also having a name, but which you can find more about on HERE.

For the experience we had in Horezu, I can guarantee though that these stones still remain quite underrated for the unicity they bring to Romania, and there is not really a change to be felt in your mood unless you put too much accent on the legends that are creating lots of mystery within.

And just when we thought our time to head back home came, we've been surprised by even more livings than the living stones we mainly came for.

Flowers, which show how nature creates its very own space no matter what the conditions and surroundings are.

And, a tiny lizard which delighted our eyes with lots of colours and beauty. It's been the first time getting to see one so close since they usually run away way before noticing them.

But this little buddy was sitting there bathing in the sunlight and even came closer when I started to take pictures. I guess he was really enjoying the spontaneous photoshoot, lol! He definitely knows how to pose... too bad my phone camera didn't make such a good work as this little one deserved!

I’ve never in my life seen an open air museum before
Looks nice and the stones look so magical
Love them!

They do have a bit of magic I'd say. Romania has plenty of open air museums :)
Thanks for stopping by!

It's crazy that there are living stones "in theory" it's very cute and scary xD 👁️👄👁️

So, I could not pick one of the stones and take it home... It's a pity 😁😂

It's a cool place of living stones (I hear about it for the first time, so thanks for bringing them)
The lizard is cute 🥰

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear! Most likely the small stones were already taken by the locals, hence why they are under protection right now lol

The lizard wanted to be captured by your phone.😁
The stones are magnificent. 😊

Indeed! He did a great job posing too, haha!

Yes. As shown in the picture the lizard is quite interested in the camera.😁

Hey Gabriela! You have captured some cute frames of the Living Stones, the flowers looked so pretty. The Lizard popping up from no where was the highlight for me.

Same for me! Nothing compares to spotting an animal in its normal habitat 😍 Thanks for stopping by!
