Now that we’re in the Christmas season, and I bet many of us started counting down the days as soon as December began, I decided to take a walk around town to explore buildings adorned with Christmas-themed decorations in search of the most impressive ones.
I even have friends who had their Christmas trees up as early as mid-November! Crazy, right?
Unfortunately, I won’t have a Christmas tree this year partly because of my cat and also because I’ll be celebrating this wonderful season with my family in another city. So, instead of putting up a tree, I decided to hang a few decorations here and there around the house to keep the festive spirit alive.
And speaking of decorations, thank goodness there are so many to choose from! Whether you’re browsing a random store during your daily shopping or visiting specialty shops dedicated to holiday decoration, the options seem endless. That said, we all know we probably already have dozens of decorations sitting in a dusty box from previous years, right?
While I love decorating my home during this season, another guilty pleasure of mine is taking random walks outside to explore beautifully decorated, Christmas-themed buildings. Hence why, in today’s post, I’ll be sharing some of these festive sights with you! Let me know which one is your favorite.
You’ll find decorated buildings almost everywhere—whether they’re restaurants, cafés, or even souvenir shops.
Some of the buildings shown above have made it onto a local list of the "Top 5 Most Beautiful Christmas-Themed Buildings" in Sibiu. However, as I continued exploring, I realized how difficult it is to compare them since each one is unique in its own way.
Another place featured in the top is the entrance to the Brukenthal Museum, which seems much more minimalist compared to some of the other decorations I saw that day.
There’s a nice connection between the Christmas arch and the historic entrance of the building, but beyond that, it doesn’t stand out as much.
That said, the museum usually requires an entry fee, but during the Christmas Market, that is held right in front of the building, a small part of the museum is open for free visits until December 27th. I love this setup because it offers a much more relaxed atmosphere compared to the constant buzzing of the market.
This is the fifth year in a row that the Christmas Market in Sibiu has looked the same, so I haven’t felt particularly interested in visiting it except for admiring the decorated buildings. However, something new for 2024 is the market’s expansion into another part of the old center, known as Piata Mică.
In previous years, this area typically featured just a single, modest Christmas tree in the center, without much else in terms of decorations or stalls for souvenirs and ornaments. This year, though, the organizers have added a few more festive activities, including a chalet serving holiday drinks, a carousel, a giant VR sleigh, and even a fascinating elevator that takes you to Santa!
Last but not least, even though this spot doesn’t feature any Christmas decorations like the previous images, it’s a parallel path along the city center that I always enjoy walking, no matter how many times I’ve taken the same route. Its peaceful and quiet atmosphere makes it easy to fall in love with, no matter the season. ❤️

Such beautiful decorations everywhere. I like the one from the mint/ light blue front of the building.
I haven’t had many trees up either the last years for many reasons, this year I managed to put one up.
Enjoy the festivities with family.
Good you still put a few decorations up.
