Berries are one of my favourite foods so when thinking about something new to photograph for this community it was a no-brainer; Berries.
It was a fairly easy shoot, although difficult not to eat the subjects, but I managed to get through it with only a few casualties...ok, there were more than a few casualties. Here's the results and, as I did on a recent post about nuts, I've given the photos some names based on what they made me feel or think about. Here goes.
Interfruital Intercourse
I was taking photos of strawberries when I looked over and saw a blueberry and raspberry getting frisky. In no time they started fucking and I managed to capture the interfruital intercourse on camera.
Balls of steel
These blueberries resemble steel, sort of like those demolition balls they break buildings apart with. I really like the way the skin of the fruit looks weathered and there's even some reddish tinges of light that could be rust.
Blueberries to the slaughter house
I was trying for a really cool perspective shot here...It didn't turn out well. Anyway, it reminds me of animals lining up at the slaughterhouse and what happens to them, so the name seems to make sense.
Torn asunder
This blackberry sacrificed its life for this shot; I tore it apart and heard its scream of pain and suffering. It endured a slow and painful death as I photographed it, and then I ate it.
The gaping maw
This one reminds me of mouth, the little yellowish things inside the raspberry look like teeth to me. I imagine it to be the maw of some weird creature, like the sandworms on Dune.
Strawberry tentacles
This one makes me think of the tentacles of a squid, hence the name. I'm pretty sure if strawberries tasted like squid people wouldn't use them in and on desserts though.
Bleeding out
This is a pretty obvious one I think. I cut this blackberry in twain and squeezed the fuck out of the other half to make a blood trail. The remaining half had to suffer the indignation of being photographed as it bled out.
Scene of the crime
Death is part of life and passing over peacefully is what we all wish for...but sometimes death is brutal, violent and unforgiving. Here's four blackberries at the scene of one such death. This is a bit of a shit shot as the light-ring on my lightbox shows up in the blood. Oh well, I'll own it, I'm not photographer after all.
Murder weapon
Ok, this is the last death-berry image, I promise. I sliced this poor fucker in half and what the bloody fuck #WTBF, blueberries are not blue inside at all. Blueberries?...talk about the conspiracy theory of the century! You can see the knife with which I murdered the blue greenberry. As it turns out, cultivated blueberries contain less anthocyanin which is more prevalent in wild blueberries giving them the blue flesh they're known for...now I don't want to buy cultivated ones anymore.
Segments of pop
I don't think much about raspberries...I'm too busy stuffing those little buggers in my mouth and loving the way they taste! All those little segmented bubbles of flavour make these berries something pretty special.
Juicy slit
You folks can make of this what you wish, I don't think I need to elaborate on my title.
Joined the circus
Don't even ask me how long it took to balance these blueberries on top of each other. Every time I'd move to my camera they'd fall over. It's ok, I punished them by eating the ones that rolled off...until I realised I was running out of them for the photos. These three decided to stay on top of each other. They ran away and joined the circus after the photo shoot. (No they didn't, I ate them.)
Juicy orgy
I probably don't need to explain this title much either.
Orbs of pleasure
No, I don't mean boobs, although they're also pleasurable orbs. This is probably my favourite of the photos posted here. I'm not really sure why, it just looks nice I guess...all those little round things and besides...everything looks better in macro right?
That's it for this post, I'm sorry if you got down to here and you're totally bored; you should have left sooner! Actually, I'm not sorry at all, I had fun doing this post, it was berry enjoyable and that's what counts.
Thanks for looking at my pictures though, I appreciate it and will appreciate any comments you chose to leave. Also, If you'd like to see a photography post about my nuts, follow this link right here.

Every image in this post is my own.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III and Samsung S22 Ultra were used to capture these images.
who doesn't enjoy a juicy slit???
or even a gaping maw?
a mastery of double entendre
I must be honest and say, juicy slit is my favourite. (Title, I mean.)
yes of course, how far in is your tongue (in cheek I mean)
I cannot tell a lie! Your photography is top-notch! Do I detect a tad of ambiguity here? Never! I think you always say what you mean, Let's face it, your wordplay is what makes it so interesting.
I love your food photography, especially the raspberry, bursting with ripeness, and the stack of blueberries, defying you by falling over, only to be punished by you eating them.
Was it worth it, blueberry?
My favorite shot was the balls of steel, segments of pop, and joined the circus. You know I can't just pick one!
Hi, Galen!
Thanks Swiggles!
I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you are. Someone had mentioned about taking a cruise to me and I thought of you. Anyway, hopefully you're doing well.
The wordplay...well, I know it's sometimes a little suggestive and I make no apology for it! Life is too short not to have some fun and I guess if people don't like it they can avoid my posts, as so many do. I just had fun with it and the result is titles like juicy slit.
I struggled to make the blueberries interesting and came up with the circus one in a moment of
brillianceimmense averageness. I've got some others of the blueberries I really like and will have to come up with a post to use the images one of these days. Overall, I had fun with this shoot and look forward to the next one...Macro shots of parts of my body! (Lol, not really.)I hope your weekend is going well Swigs.
Macro shots! Yikes. I don't even need imagination for that! Sort of like cheating, you think?
It was nice coming home, but, darn! I sure miss the delectable dinners and everything else that goes with it. Everything was taken care of while I was gone, so there wasn't anything big hanging over my head. I just haven't got my me time balanced yet. Soon!
Are you contemplating another cruise? :)
PS... The blueberries were cool, plus between the raspberries and blueberries, I am not sure which I like best. And the pictures were brilliant. Just saying.
Yeah, it probably is. Besides that, I'd not want to brutalise the eyes of the blockchain community. I'll have to come up with something else to macro shoot.
I've never been on a cruise to be honest, just a few days on Ha Long Bay, Vietnam and that was a small Chinese Junk vessel not a big cruise ship. I'm not sure if it's my thing to be honest, but I'll probably have to give it a try at some stage to see. I hear good and bad things.
Red fruit is amazing, tasty and full of anti-oxidants. They are so good for our health as well!
Yesterday my mother came to visit us and she brought some blueberries and blue raspberries and gosh, they are so yummy!
I love berries, a lot, and probably eat too many...Except when they area really expensive to buy! They're good for one's health also, as you point out, so it's a double win!
Meanwhile here's the equivalent AI shot! heh
Seriously though, great shots... so juicy. Takes me back to picking blackberries as a kid - not in any particular farmland or something, they'd just grow wild in the bushes in the general neighbourhood. mmm....
That was before I grew old enough to start getting all icky-minded about parasitic wasps laying eggs inside and whatever else. I wish my mind went back to the simple care-free, parasite-eating ways XD
Yeah, AI is so shit.
Parasite berries...hmm, seems legit.
That would have even back in the good old days when gluten wasn't the worlds' biggest problem, and milk came from cows, not almonds, and when we didn't walk around with $2,000 cameras that just happen also to make phone calls or feel the need to spew forth every tiny little detail about ourselves.
I miss the good old days.
I clicked on this post because your photo reminded me of a berries photo shoot I have done a few years ago, so I wanted to check it out. And now here I am ROFLing over your descriptions. They are so good!
When did you become a professional photographer? A ring-light? You're going all the way.
Thankfully, I don't have to pick a favorite one.
Come for the berries, stay for my nutbag descriptions!
My lightbox thing was given to me, it's a super cheap thing and is held together by duct tape, but has given me some good results.
Thanks for your kind words which I appreciate greatly.
You've been doing a great job with these macro shot posts. This is another good one. Very creative.
The best part about berry photography—you get to eat them afterwards. Berries are so expensive I don't buy them often, but I do really enjoy them. Especially Raspberries and Blackberries.
Exactly!
I'm getting...berry good at it huh?
I hate the fuck out of the berries after the shoot...and actually started during the shoot. What can I say, sometimes I like to get a head start.
😂
What a minute, I'm the one who's suppose to be doing the dad jokes.
I know right? I'm not even a dad and I roll them out. You need to up your game!
Stunning close ups. My favorite is the raspberry here. I actually just finished this raspberry syrup and I must say that your shots look better than the one they put on the label :D
Thanks mate, it was a bit of fun doing this shoot, and not just because I got to eat the berries afterwards.
The macro berry shots are pretty neat.
Your imaginative descriptions..... quite young boyish...LOL....
Life is definitely more fun if you never let go of your inner child.
I also love berries.... except for the blue ones.
There'll be plenty of time to let go of my sense of fun...when I'm dead. For now, I'll just own it.
I had some fun with this shoot and decided to let the fun continue into the post with my titles and all. I figure I might as well, as the few who read my posts know what I'm like, and accept it.
Thanks for reading.
Great photos! I am actually working in berries growing/exporting/packing industry so its good to see that you enjoy them :)
Oh really? That's cool...if I worked in that industry most would get packed or exported into my mouth! 😆
You always have a way of presenting your work to make it captivating that one has to finish reading it. Jeezzz. Was I disappointed this time, hell no and those pictures are just beautiful.
Thank you.
I try to make things interesting, as everyone writing on Hive should. My writing skills are limited though so I don't always hit the mark I guess. I had fun with this shoot and am pleased with how the shots turned out. Thanks for your comment.
Strawberries, blue berries wow! They looks yummy. They are seldom to see here and if there is, it is quite pricey that we can hardly afford.
You did a great photography and story behind your photos.
They are pretty costly here too, but I love them so much I find the money for them. These were good value as I photographed them and then ate them...Double value.
They really have double purpose for you.
Hive post, photography practice/skill development and tasty snack all in one. Good multitasking ;D
I know right?
One needs to apply oneself to multitasking so one gets the best out of one's days. One must also not refer to oneself as one too often lest one be deemed a fucken nutbag. Lol.
I remember a story where that was the normal way of talking as the people of that culture believed it was necessary to prevent people from being too selfish, and personal pronouns were either illegal or on the same level as bad language, so of course there was a description of a memory the main protagonist had of camping out in their room under the covers with their siblings repeating "I" and "me" XD
One believes that it is indeed correct English to refer to oneself as one, however, one also knows that most don't speak correct English these days and that urban slang (which has existed for many hundreds of years) is becoming increasingly prevalent.
Excellent photography! I really love every image and it also makes me want to eat them, lol.
Thank you, I'm glad you like them. I had a lot of fun shooting these images, and then eating the berries!
I think I haven't eaten a vatiety of berries yet. Even strawberries... I don't remember a time when I enjoyed eating raw fruit before. I love strawberry milkshakes though. I'll go for it rather than coffee. There are a lot of milk tea and shakes around the town, and I would always prefer a drink with strawberries in it.
I don't think I've ever met someone who has not ever eaten raw fruit. Amazing.
Haha, what I mean by that was raw strawberry fruit. ..my bad.
Hahaha.... I won't have reached the end if u was not enjoying the post.
It was a great post knowing about berries.. the first picture was really neat and good
Excellent, thanks for taking a look.
