Honestly, I can’t wait to share this post with Keny with you all. A while ago, I mentioned in one of my posts that I did another photo session with Keny to build a portfolio. After the second session where she wore a cheongsam, the latest session features a slightly more elegant outfit.
There was no specific inspiration when doing this shoot with this outfit. I just felt that Keny looks incredibly suited to wearing all kinds of outfits, and she also manages to convey a character that fits perfectly with what she's wearing. This session was done in a friend’s studio, and unfortunately, this month will be the last month they own the studio. The revenue my friend earned wasn’t enough to keep up with the rental costs, which makes me sad because the only studio we had access to for shoots will be closing for good.
But that’s okay, hopefully, one day I can have my own studio, so I won’t have to worry about where to do my photoshoots.
As for the photoshoot with Keny, as usual, I prepared everything—from the makeup look, hairdo, props, to the lighting setup—to get the results I wanted. I also used different lighting setups to achieve various results. One example is the photo above, where I used only one flash on the body. To create a harsh light, I didn’t add any diffuser. Since art is free, I am free to create based on what I envision, and for this first session, I happened to want this kind of final result.
In the following session, I used a mix lighting technique, which combines continuous light and studio flash to achieve the look you can see above. Although the result is far from perfect, to me, it's already as I had imagined.
And in the last session, I used studio flash without a diffuser and added a flash to fill the light on Keny's face. The final result is roughly what you can see in the photo above. I really loved the outcome of this photoshoot with Keny. Honestly, I enjoy doing studio sessions because I get to play around with studio lighting. This is very different from outdoor sessions, where my photos are controlled by sunlight, which can change very quickly, sometimes making my outdoor shots inconsistent. Although, I really do want to be able to produce great photos, whether in the studio or during outdoor sessions.
Lastly, I hope you all like my photography work this time. I feel this is the best portfolio shot I’ve ever created. Hopefully, I can do more studio photoshoots in the future. Perhaps some of you are interested in investing—I would really look forward to that. Haha.
Warm regards from me.
