Naked Island | Alaska

in Photography Lovers3 months ago (edited)

Naked Island was named after its treeless appearance when it was first charted by early explorers. However, a lot has changed since then, and trees are blooming like never before. Naked Island does not have any bears, making it the perfect hunting ground.

We visited Outside Bay and had the company of two other barges, each about 100 feet long. We couldn’t quite figure out what they were doing in the middle of Prince William Sound. This will be our second-to-last spot before leaving for Glacier Bay. Our time in Prince William Sound is coming to an end, and the weather looks really good for the 7th, so we’re planning to make that 450-mile leap to Glacier Bay.

Tonight, we are expecting lots of wind, but we’re nicely tucked into a bay with plenty of chain on the seabed, so we’re well-prepared. But I do hope the forecast is overreacting.

Naked Island.

I clicked through to your post with high expectations...they were dashed, no nakedness...but great shot nonetheless.

😊

Ah, I see the name led you astray! No nakedness, but I promise the island itself feels very exposed. Thanks for the kind words—glad you enjoyed the clothed version! 😄

I do some click bait titles from time to time so appreciate them. 👍🏼

the view is very beautiful.
