I visited Varbola Fortress in central Estonia and it was actually last year about the same time. A classic case for me. I see great winter weather when the sun is shining, it's cold and nice. Meaning I go outside somewhere.
I decided to visit the Varbola Fortress, I had been there before in my life but I really didn't remember anything about it so it was good to see this place again. It is believed to be the the biggest fortress in Estonia.
The fortress was built in the 11th or 12th century and the last battle held there is believed to happened in 1343. The area is surrounded by a protective wall that is still clearly visible as seen on the photo above.
A catapult. Something like this was used to hold off enemies.
Inside the protective walls were different buildings and some pathways are still there today.
I'm not really sure what this hole in the ground is but my wild guess is that its a well to get water.
Even though the fortress itself is cool to see. I was equally or even more impressed by the lighting on that day and how beautiful the scenery was. Here are some of the photos of the nature there. The temperature was about -12C and it made everything look like a frozen wonderland.
Yesterday I saw some sunshine and it was awesome. I had literally not seen any sunshine for a month haha. I used this special time well and went to the bog which was amazing. Will make the post soon about it.
The weather in this type of region will have definitely be so cold as I am so sure of that
-12 is pretty cold yeah but it can get a lot lower than that in here.
