These photos are taken quite a while ago already but I haven't posted about it.
About 2 months ago I wondered where to go to to watch a sunset or just take some photos. I decided to go to the Pakri cliff in northern Estonia. There is a nice view to the sky and sea so why not. About a halfway there I noticed on the road that some thick smoke is ahead and it started very suddenly. I wondered where is the fire source, I didn't see anything. I also noticed that I don't smell the smoke but I should. I rolled the window down to check but indeed it wasn't smoke at all, it was an insanely dense fog.
It's interesting how it was sunny weather and then suddenly, a fog so dense that I hardly see 30meters in front of me.
When I arrived at Pakri cliff, it was apparent that I am not going to see any sunset today, in fact, no view at all because the visibility still was nonexistent.
Having a bit disappointed, I actually loved the weather because I had been there many times but never seen conditions like this before. I decided to take a walk along the cliffside. The cliff itself is about 45 meters high and drops straight into the sea. At first I didnt see the sea below.
At some point, the altitude got lower and I was also able to see the water below.
The mystery weather continues.
When I was done walking in this area, I decided to drive a bit back to where the stairs are located. You can actually get down from the cliff and go to the beach. I wanted to see what are the conditions there. It wasn't too much different there, still low visibility but I got some cool pictures.
Having been there about 20 minutes I decided to go back up the stairs and leave but to my amazement, the little altitude gain after climbing up the stairs now made a huge difference because I was almost above the fog level and could see some of the sunshine. That was pretty cool to see.
The coolest shots I think were of the nearby wind turbines. You could see the top of the turbines but the lower part was invisible. Also, the sunset made the fog look purple. That was a really mystical and a bit surreal sight to see.
Gradually the fog started to clear up. After driving away I got clear skies again.
So I went there for the sea views and sunset that I have seen there many times before but got something much more interesting and out of ordinary in the end.
Awesome set, the fog and the wind turbines looks almost like a sci-fi scene.
Yeah, I agree. Really awesome scenery.
Holy cow! Imagine one comes bombing down the trail on a bicycle, on that fog, and suddenly... a cliff!
Yeah, you need to know the trail well to ride there in this weather. Or better yet, dont ride😀
