Iceland is a land of Waterfalls. Nobody knows exactly how many there are but it's somewhere over 10 thousand. Considering how small is the country, It's a crazy number. Basically, only a fraction of them is named, about 200 of them.
In this post, I share one waterfall I visited during day 3 in Iceland. It is named Hjalparfoss and is not much visited by tourists. It is located in southwestern Iceland and is situated quite far inland in the middle of the old lava fields.
You can quickly notice the cliffs around the waterfall. Formations like this happen when liquid lava cools rapidly, mostly in water.
Pretty amazing eh?
On the photo below you can see some people in the water. Some locals crossed the river to go to some fishing spot.
More views in the area.
Unfortunately, the weather was bad and totally overcast. I can imagine how great the pictures would have been If I got to capture this place during the sunset.
That’s an amazing sight ! Are these two waterfalls from the same river/spring ? I really like how they collide like that !
Yep, they are from the same river. Just a patch of lava rock in between.
Epic shots. I would love to visit there one day.
Much more epicness to come. It was my second time on Iceland and still, will not be the last.
This spot looks incredible! I love the framing of the last shot. All the images turned out great!
Thanks, it was quite hard to get shots because it was raining with wind and lens was constantly wet.
I hate when that happens! You did a most excellent job. =)
