Hraunfossar and Barnafossar Waterfalls

While there are so many beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, I mean countless waterfalls but Hraunfossar is one of the most special I think.
There is no river that leads to this waterfall and all this water comes from underground and finds its way into a river in this location.
The water comes from the nearby Langjökull glacier, the second largest ice cap of Iceland. This waterfall is located in Western Iceland about 50km inland.

The area is a huge lava field Hallmundarhraun and there are a crazy amount of tunnels beneath the surface. The country's longest cave Víðgelmir is also located near this waterfall, reaching up to whopping meters long and up to 15.8 meters high. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to check this out.

Here are some more shots of the Hraunfossar.

Another waterfall that is situated pretty much right next to the Hraufossar is Barnafossar. This is a waterfall that surges down the narrow rocky valley with great power.
The legend says that there once was a stone bridge over the water and two boys tried to cross it but felt dizzy due to the height. Fell into the water and drowned. The legend ends in two different ways. One is that the mother in grief ordered the stone bridge destroyed and the other one says that the mother cursed the bridge using the Icelandic rune. So everyone who attempts to cross it will find the same fate. Later an earthquake destroyed the bridge and broke the curse too.

The name Barnafossar translates to children's waterfall.

Hi @greddyforce

Everything is truly an amazing sight. It took a big sacrifice to immortalize it, right?
Is there anyone fishing there?

It's really a known place actually. But most tourists never make it there due to its location and lack of time.
I don't think there is any fish there. The current is too strong.
