I recently sifted through my December 2000 photos and stumbled upon a series from my hike in the Rax Mountains. Despite the less-than-ideal weather, I was determined to go. Big mistake. I ended up navigating through fog and wind, turning what should have been a hike into a survival exercise. Thankfully, I made it home safely, only to spend the next week coughing my lungs out with bronchitis.
I captured these photos with my first digital camera, the legendary Nikon Coolpix 990!
Hopefully you had proper clothes and tools, and a cellphone or a radio to call for help in case of emergency.
Or at least you told someone that you go to the mountains.
If you were alone, especially without the above mentioned things, then this is similar to going into narrow and deep caves alone.
Indeed life risking.
Some people go into narrow caves. They often squeeze themselves to move in them.
Recently I watched multiple YouTube videos about such cases.
Some of them were able to go out from the cave on their own, while some of them moved out of the cave by rescue teams, and some of them died in the cave.
Some of these people are crazy enough to go alone, without proper clothes and tools, and not inform anyone about what they go, making the chance to rescue them practically impossible.
Even to the world's deepest cave (Veryovkina Cave). For example Sergei Kozeev.
There are some really frightening and scary stories.
Thanks God, you arrived home safely, @gric. I hope you will be okay.
Your photos are all beautiful. I admired your determination and sincerity to catch that beautiful view despite the cold weather.
