Four Shots through thousand year old windows

Sperlinga castle, is a little unsurprisingly in Sperlinga in Sicily, Italy. It is pretty much right in the middle of the island, in the highlands, which is a excellent place for a castle, high on the hill with 360 degree views it also means those views are truly stunning.

The castle is about 1000 years old, and when we were there, we were one of maybe 6 people who were wandering around it's many spaces.

This is not a fancy, full of wonderful furniture and pretty type castle, this is a big old lump of stone, with big thick walls and tiny windows without glass.

and of course each of the openings shows the amazing Italian landscape, all fields, hills and that big big sky.

The first picture is very beautiful, like a painting in a frame and placed on the wall.

An excellent quartet of beautifully framed photos!
