Welcome to The 30th edition of the series - Scenes from a bike
This Edition facts:
Location: A ride to the other side of the suburb I live in to watch the AFL team North Melbourne train - or indeed have a intra-blub practice game. It is the off-season for them (season proper commences in March)
Date & Weather: Thursday the 23rd of January 2025- surprisingly overcast given it's summer here
Equipment: My Fujifilm X-T5, mated with a 70-300mm Zoom.
The Concept & Finances: The concept is simple, I've bought an electric bike, on this bike I explore my hometown, Melbourne Australia and take photos, Priority 1 - Finding new places in Melbourne, Priority 2 - taking better photos, Bonus - Earn back the cost of the bike by creating content and getting paid for it on HIVE. The bike cost $1,100 USD. So far I've earned $168.01 from the previous 29 paid out posts meaning I've paid for just over 15% of the bike and I have $932 to go. This is going to take some time, but this is all bonus money, the joy is in the taking of photos.
Other stuff: I don't have time to explain AFL - but if you are interested check out this for the purposes of today understand we are watching the North Melbourne Kangaroos (here the 1980's kangaroo motif on the tops) and we have two versions of their full playing roster - The Blue team and the Pink Team, but they are all really teammates and they are competeting to be selected in Round 1 of the regular season with is about 8 weeks away.
So here we go... the complete chaos of the centre bounce
a more controlled Charlie Comben - also love that kangaroo top.
Charlie in the middle of things after a bit of push and shove
Vice Captain Nick Larkey being tackled.
Arguably our best player - Luke Davie Uniacke or LDU contemplating where to kick it
and kicking it
Will Phillips - and interesting character, right on the fringes of the team so of someone everyone has a opinion on.
Toby Pink, ironically not playing for the Pink Team.
A very fit looking Tom Powell - must AFL midfielders (which Tom is) would run about 14km in a game, which also including tackling, kicking, handballing - they are extremely fit athletes.
And lets end where we started another ruck contest
Great sports shots
