Friday again!
How quickly a week can sometimes pass, and at other times every minute seems to last an eternity. Today was another typical cold, grey, misty day in the Netherlands. But despite that, there were also some nice moments. The stove is humming, my partner works at home in his wooden sheds, and Skipper is happily frolicking around me.
With the wood-burning pen in my hand, I continued on my Rowan project while making time to feed and admire the birds. And today, I had a special guest: Mr. Vink was in the mood to pose! I thought he was almost challenging me to capture his charming appearance. Bird watching is one of those little daily moments of enjoyment that add some color to a grey day.
Of course, that wasn't the only thing I did today, but I won't bore you with the standard household chores. Believe me, if it already feels boring to me, I won't bother you with it at all. Still, it’s part of the job, like it is for many of us.
Another project I’m working on is designing my wooden pc-desk. My current workstation falls short on all fronts. The space is limited, and what’s even worse: my monitor is way too low. Because I’m using a PC case, I can’t put it any higher without literally going through the top of the case. That doesn’t seem like a good idea to me, so time for a different approach!
Designing A Custom-made PC-Desk
I’ve decided that the PC case has to go away and that I’m going to make a completely custom-made desk. There’s simply no ready-made desk that fits my needs perfectly. I want a desk with enough space to put everything down clearly, and also a place to store things neatly. Since I have probably a bit more to put on my desk than many other people have, I can't find a ready-made desk to my liking. So the only option is to make it myself! That won’t be a job that takes an afternoon. Probably it's more like a few weeks before I'm ready. And first of all, it's a project that requires a good plan on paper first. What kind of wood am I going to use? How much do I need? And how do I make sure it’s both functional and beautiful? Today I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it’s already starting to take shape in my head. But I'm not quite sure yet what the result should look like.
And now it's the weekend. Although it doesn't feel all that different from the weekdays these days. The gray, cold days sometimes seem to go on forever. Bring on spring! Only 62 more days, people, and then we can enjoy fresh flowers, warmer temperatures, and longer days again. Sixty-two! That sounds like an eternity, but hey, we're already halfway through winter.
Making The Most Of It
For now, I'm making the most of it with the warmth of the stove, the company of Skipper, and my creative projects. What are your plans for the weekend? Or are you also counting down to spring?
