As I was moving my files from the memory card to my external hard drive, I came across these selfies that I took more than a month ago. I didn't think much of them as I just took them for fun while I was doing my make up, you know, just selfies. Just like how you would take them on your phone.
Then I realized how good they were and the lighting gave a really nice soft effect but with a cinematic kind of look.
These were taken while facing the window with an afternoon light coming from it. It was almost dark as the sun was setting already but the camera was still able to get some light.
It's been a while since I took photographs of myself from a camera and I forgot how they're a lot better than phones in general. Not because of the quality or the price tag, but the focal length of lenses make a lot of difference when it comes to portraits. Do you wonder why sometimes the front camera makes your face look weird and depending on how much you extend your arm your face changes? It's the same with lenses and why some lenses are labelled "portrait lens" and such.
I'm using a 23mm in these photos though which is a wide lens but surprisingly my face still looks okay despite me just holding the camera with my arms (no tripod).
Although there's a bit of a distortion like it looks kinda weird but not as weird as when I take a selfie with my phone. The lighting also makes the photo have some nice shadows that made my makeup better lol.
And of course, the black and white makes it look like an emotional photograph. :P
This reminds me of films with a vintage vibe for some reason. :P
I removed some of my blemishes and minimized the pores... as well as added a bit of noise for the whole photo.
I'm really surprised with these photographs cos I didn't really like them when I took them but after not seeing it for a long time I just started liking it. It kinda feels the same with hating the recent art you made but when you look back at it from the future you will start liking it. That's how it is for me at least.
Anyway that's all for now with the selfies. Maybe the emotional 2018 self portraity Hiddi will be back at some point when my creative motivation will be back especially when I now have a Fuji X-T5 because my X-T4 currently has a broken shutter button. :P
A model and a photographer in one, if this a skills I want this for myself too! And seriously, they all look awesome. My favorite shot is the second photo, i like the effect of those sparkling thing in your make up, it gives a beautiful effect too on that particular one (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Yeah!! I'm also proud of this skills, being able to capture and pose for the camera😂 What's funny is that I can only do it when I'm alone but when people take pics of me especially in public I'm very awkward like suddenly I don't know what to do. Definitely not model material lol.
Ahhh nice, that photo was very random like trying to make the hair fly if I remember it correctly that's why there's a hair on my face lol. And I just cropped it to make it look artsy. Thank you! Glad you liked it :D
Well, I searched for words in my vocabulary to describe such beauty, but it is complex and at the same time simple, to praise such plenitude as is shared with the community. I look at these photos and at you and the only thought that comes to mind is that you were born to do exactly what you are doing. Without more or less, it was fabulous and fantastic.
!LUV
Thank you! :D
I love that you made them black and white. I believe it made the photos not only more emotional, but also focused on the details, which you wouldn't notice in a color photo.
couldn't really tell if you removed your blemishes. It looked very effortlessly natural.
The colored version was nice too, I don't know I think it's also cos Fuji really captures it nicely and makes every photo "emotional" with how the colors turn out.
Yeah I only remove some too obvious blemishes but didn't soften the skin like how others do it. I'm never a big fan of those cos they make it too obvious and plasticky haha
it would turn out to be a skin ad haha i get it
Nindot bitaw kaayo mag emote2 basta mag black and white. Hehe! I tried taking selfies using the 50mm lens but it felt like I was doing a boudoir/sexy photo session. XD
Ngano mura mag boudoir? Pag gunit ug libro or something para reading kuno ug dili ma sexy session hahah
Same sa other colors pud.
haha bitaw advantage pod kaayo mag take photos using RAW kay ma surprise na lang ko nga ngitngit pagkakuha unea dramatic man diay kaayo tag pose ineg adjust sa brightness. pak na pak dayon ineg black and white. XD
These are gorgeous! I've started experimenting with self-portrait photography, and these are just so inspiring. I like how there's a clear range of emotion, but no exaggeration towards any one extreme. Beautiful.
Thank you!
The lighting is so good! That second shot is incredible and the vintage vibe one is super interesting as well.
Thank you! I have to do this at this time more often for a nice lighting lol
"Cancel all my plans! The lighting is good in here again!"
Excellent pictures, I loved them, keep it up, greetings.
Thank you!

Beautiful
I like cinematic mode, and am learning a lot to do that mode.
Wow, these selfies are amazing! I love the way you captured the light and the shadows. Your skin looks flawless, and your makeup is on point. I also really like the black and white effect. It gives the photos a very classic and timeless look.
You are so Beautiful
