A walk in the rain in Meknes, Morocco

Hello Hive community!

There are days when the call of the street is stronger than the call of the sofa. That day, despite the grey clouds and intermittent showers, I took my umbrella, put on my jacket and went out for a walk in the centre of Meknes.

Fortunately, the rain wasn't too heavy. It was more like a fine drizzle that fell from time to time, just enough to wet the ground a little without really hindering the walk. And from time to time, the clouds parted to let in a few rays of sunshine. I could warm up a bit, feel the light on my face and even close the umbrella for a few minutes.

Walking in the rain is a bit like pressing the pause button on the day. Everything slows down. The sound of horns fades, passers-by move more calmly, the streets glisten under the puddles and the drops fall gently onto the pavements. There's something very soothing about this atmosphere.

What I like about this type of weather is the light. The mixture of threatening grey skies and the sun's rays suddenly breaking through the clouds, creating magnificent reflections on the façades, the palm trees and the wet pavements. Every corner seemed to offer a new scene to admire. The well-trimmed trees along the alleys, the elegant minarets piercing the heavy sky, even the large advertising posters seemed to take on another dimension under this capricious sky, and I didn't hesitate to take a photo of our beloved football player BRAHIM DIAZ!

As I walked along, I could also see people coming and going, some in a hurry, others taking their time, while I just strolled along. At times, I stopped to take a few shots. Not just to take ‘nice pictures’ in the artistic sense, but also to capture what I saw, just as it was. A moment of life in the rain, in Meknes, in its modern streets lined with tall buildings, floating flags and often empty benches.

I love these unexpected walks. They reconnect me to the city in a different way. Meknes may be familiar, but all it takes is an umbrella, a bit of rain and a ray of sunshine to surprise me again.
