Hey, friends!
I thought I'd write a little post about my 10-day trip to Malta and share some pictures I took on the island.
The initial reason me and my girlfriend decided to go to Malta was her co-worker coming to Estonia for the summer. As the co-worker lives in Malta and their aparment was going to be empty for longer than a month, she offered people (who work with my girlfriend) to stay in her apartment for free. It was a godsend! We would've probably spent 1000β¬+ on accommodation alone.
The first three days were spent mostly in the apartment due to me having to work. The 1h time difference was fun getting used to β I started my workday at 8.00 and ended at 16.00, while my coworkers started and ended an hour later. However, the time that was left after my working hours ended were spent in the capital of Malta β Valletta. We bought a bus ticket that allowed us to ride around however much we wanted for 7 days.
Valletta
The Triton Fountain right outside the city gates of Valletta
I really loved seeing all the colorful windows around the city. There were lots of colors ranging from bright red to dark green and blue.
I think this was some kind of ministry. Not sure though. π€·π»
As me and my girlfriend recently finished driving school in Estonia, we made fun of how difficult it would be to get up all those hills riding a manualβ¦ we're automatic kind of people. π
In other news β the traffic was crazy in Malta. Firstly, they drive on the left side of the road, which I had not seen in person ever before. Secondly, it seems that their speed limits are more recommendations rather than limits β nobody gave a damn and rode 95km/h in a 50km/h zone. It was also funny to see that about every fifth driver had a dent in their car. I also heard that the police forces in Malta don't really care if you drive drunk β there are lots of drunk drivers. As me and my girlfriend just finished driving school, we weren't bold enough to rent a car.
The lovely blue sea! And boats were literally everywhere. β΅
It was nice sometimes to see the greenery as well. I am not very used to a hot climate, so 33+ degrees every day with humidity through the roof was a real challenge to me. π₯΅
There were lots of huge churches around.
As I said β colorful windows!
Unfortunately, there were a lot of stray cats walking around everywhere we went. The slept on and under the cars, under benches, on the benches etc. Everywhere. Luckily people had put outside "cat cafe's", where the cats could sleep inside little houses. Some people also put outside food and water for the cats.
The view from Valletta to Sliema.
I sincerely think this is one of my favourite images from the whole trip β the walk home in the evening when the sun was setting.
The National Aquarium in Bugibba
(I only have three cool pictures from this place, but some cool videos as well)
THE FOOD!
Ho-ly shit. The food in all over Malta is magnificent. The portions everywhere were huge and while I usually manage to finish my food β this time I couldn't. I would recommend two places for eating β the aforementioned image is taken in the Balzunetta Gastropub right outside of Valletta.
This image is taken in the Nobel Cafe Bistro on the island of Gozo in Victoria (not on the mainland Malta, but a smaller island towards the north-east of Malta).
And if you're looking for ice cream in Valletta β go to Dolci Pecatti. They seem to be a small Italian family running the business and they literally have the best ice cream.
Mdina β the Silent City
The Silent City was lovely. As the name says, it indeed was quite silent β people were sitting around in cafes, enjoying the day. Not a lot of cars drove around, which made the city quite clean as well.
This post box looked very lovely! Almost everything in the city was covered in beautiful art.
A yellow pick-up truck!
The narrow streets filled with plants and sunlight. π
And that's all for the pictures for now.
Should you have any questions about the experience, let me know down in the comments! π
Great trip! Of all the photos, I remember the ice cream one the most :) I would have one right now!
I swear to god, I have never had better ice cream before. My favourite flavours were lemon & coffee β it sounds like they don't work together, but they really do. π¨
Dear @jibspark, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency,

Your support would be really appreciated.
