According to Henri Lefebvre “The city is not a place, it is a process”.
This resonates what I significantly learned from my recent trip to the so called The Second City, Chicago. It may sound derogatory as it means to be just second to New York city yet I definitely believe that with Chicago’s exceptional history, it is incomparable on its own.
In 1871, Great Chicago fire shocked the entire world as it wiped out the main city due to a long drought in that year’s summer. To make things worst, the wooden city structures made it to rapidly spread even to damage their water pumping system. With such horrible event in the history, it offers a new blank canvas to great architectural geniuses to offer a hand in putting back the city in a better infrastructural layout. Hence, the rebirth of today’s mesmerizing skyscrapers of Chicago.
Allow me to showcase these wonderful pictures of the city in the different view point during our excursions.
The Civic Opera Building has 3,563-seat opera house.
Willi’s tower is currently the twelfth-talles building in the world and the tallest in Chicago. It has a skydeck observation in the 103rd floor visited by a million people every year. We one one of them for this year.☺️
St. Regis Chicago is personal favorite. The curves of this building makes it stand out from the rest. Fun fact, it is by far the tallest building in the word designed by a female architect named Jeanne Gang.
This quirky v shaped 150 North riverside building fought against the odds of having limited land area on its base but genius architects found a way to make it possible.
Trump building is the second tallest building in Chicago.
With the help of the sunset, I adore the reflections of buildings to one another.

What a huge skyscrapers Ma'am @jubilantjenny thank you for sharing the amazing place and architecture of Chicago
My pleasure mam @diamondinthesky...☺️ I admit I was overwhelmed with the skyscrapers as well. 😅
These are some cool shots! Looks less windy at the moment... but I could be wrong. hahaha
Hi! Thanks @castleberry . Honestly, it made us really wonder why in some particular part of the city is extra breezy and cold. 😅 I wonder if the river is a factor? I am not sure. 🤔
I know wind will flow probably over the water and then through the between areas of the buildings like wind channels. So, probably so many skyscrapers much more wind channels. Just my best guess though so it probably depends on where the wind is coming from.
So amazing shoots. I love the building and you are good in capturing the buildings keep shining 😊
Thank you @preciousbree . I appreciate your compliment. ☺️
