Hello Hivers
It was a cold early morning when I spotted this coyote. She didn't pay much attention to me, and as I got my camera ready she made a big dive into the snow to catch a mouse. I would have loved to capture that event. However she did ....
stay within sight and continued to hunt as I travelled along with her.
It was quite remarkable being so close and watching her search for a meal.
A little smaller then a wolf, and a little larger then a fox, they are very abundant and have adapted to live in cities, wilderness and prairies. Sometimes they will
cross breed and mate with a wolf, the resulting hybrid is called a coywolf.
Thank you for enjoying this coyote with me.
So wintry and fuzzy... how awesome to see her in the wild. I hadn't seen coyotes in a few years, but when I was recently visiting San Diego I saw them on the streets in the city two nights in a row. I love them and I miss hearing their voices at night. It makes me so sad that their territories keep getting encroached upon and that they have to come into the cities to survive on dogs and cats and bunnies.
It’s funny I have seen more coyotes in the city then in the wild.. they are very adaptable…it was surreal spending 10-15 min watching.. any road trips this Summer??
Definitely!! But I'm waiting to see if my tax refund will pay off my credit card bill from the last trip to determine where I'll go and how long. Definitely want to see more Colorado and more western Canada. I want to go faaaaarrrrr north again but not this summer, probably. And a cousin just moved to Florida, so there's a possible winter trip.
It's nice to have all those options and plans...I might do a canoe trip in the Yukon, now that I live much closer it would be much easier...
GASP me and Pilot will join you.
Ok… a ways off yet but it’s near the top of my must do list
I started listening to this book on audible while I was on my month-long adventure and it made me want to try. Expensive, though! And I don't want to do it alone. So tis a ways off for me as well.
Fascinating animal!
Thank you! It was a real thrill to watch her work and be so close.
I can imagine! Gratulation!
Damm that is a very wild animal! how you feel when you first time saw them? they are dangerous?
where you in safe place? a car?
Not dangerous, I was in the car but got out, and walked along, it's a zoom lens so not too close.
