My first people portraits.

I recently started taking pictures of people. Previously, people rarely got into my lens, I did not understand how other photographers capture the mood, some kind of cute wrinkle near the eyes, a look, combining all this with the rest of the world around, and so on ... I photographed architecture, objects, flowers, the sun squelch leaves, fruits on a plate, bed linen drying so beautifully from the window, in general it was anything =) But then I realised that I was missing a whole lot of beauty - the people around me! and then it started!

Here are the results of my first shoots.:
Captured on Canon Eos 850D.
Processing done on a phone with Lightroom.

What could I have done better or different?

This week I bought a new portrait lense Canon EF Lens 50 mm 1:1:8 STM for portraits, cant wait to start to use it to :)

Sort:

I love the one before guy-photos, the guy-photos and the girl with the bike. Those look real good. Especially the guy with sunglasses looks 100% great.

First 3 photos could maybe have had a bit more contrast? The girl is so pale that the picture could have used something darker in it.. maybe?

thank you for your input! maybe it is great idea! I really wanted to convey the feeling of an old film camera, which makes photos so unclear and not contrasting. but I think another edit can also be done very cool! sometimes I can't resist not to save several edit options=)

Oh if you wanted to convey old film camera feeling, then I understand. I haven't been that much into old photos so I've never understood what's so fancy in them, so probably I can't appreciate the photos in the correct way.

Well these shots are pretty good. My favorite is the third from the last photo. It has sort of a vintage feel to it. Imagining it in BW.

thank you! hmmm, i have to try to make it in BW!

Love it! I wanted to try to get some pictures of people after picking up a Sony a6400 with the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 prime lens (complementing the 16mm and 30 mm pretty well). But haven't really gotten around to using it as much as I wanted.

Also, I have no idea what I'm doing 😅

haha! i want to see more your pictures! waiting for yours new photos of people!

#4 is very good, my fave here. and the last one, as well.

50mm is a great lens! but I prefer Sigma 50mm 1.4 version (not the Art edition, thats rather a studio lens). wish you could get it instead of 1.8 version. cheers! and good luck

thank you!! maybe my next lens will be like that=)

I got my at a Russian ebay, for about ... less then 180 dollars.
my short evolution looks like this:
17-55 (kit lens) > Canon 50mm 1.8 > Canon 50mm 1.4 > Sigma 50mm 1.4

ofc, now I diluted it with some tele, macro and wide angled ones.

wish you good luck, it is the fun process of collecting your arsenal / tools of the trade, need no rush all the way along!

😉
