I’m making a commitment to keep the Hive posts coming during a time that is extremely mentally and emotionally taxing. I’m going through some professional and personal things at the same time. There’s a lot of uncertainty, the market is down and will be for a while. I remember this kind of pessimism when I was fighting for custody of @guthrie and during 2018 and 2019 when things in crypto were so bleak it felt like it would never recover. Hive has become my journal and my therapist since 2016 and the day will come when I reflect on my mark on this blockchain, rereading all the trails and tribulations of my life since that first introductory post.
So, I’ll stop bellyaching about the sad stuff and do what I always do; I rely on art to reaffirm my purpose. I work on fulfilling things even if the reward isn’t apparent, immediate or monetary. I finished editing new photos from a shoot in October of last year in Los Angeles. The model’s name is Tas and she contacted me a few weeks before I arrived on the west coast. She’s a beautiful Bangladeshi model and burlesque performer; mutual friends with other friends. I’d been following her on Instagram for a couple of years but this would be our first time meeting and shooting together.
I was taken back by her wardrobe choice for the shoot. It was a traditional outfit, bright red and gold accents and commanded attention. We shot at the Gables estate in Pasadena, which is massive with a lush yard and garden era. The foliage was a perfect compliment to the wardrobe so we made our way throughout the perimeter of the estate. Once we were inside, I was back to the familiar rich shadows of the home. At 3:00p.m., the sun was low enough that I could capture the diffused light pouring through the windows of the halls.
There will be at least one more set coming from this shoot, but most likely two. I see so many strong photos when I review the files in Photoshop. I can’t wait until I have the time to sit and edit another round. I’m going to try and get a hot bath now and wind down my mind after a taxing, somewhat manic afternoon and evening. I’ll be back tomorrow night with new edits. @vermillionfox is off work tomorrow, so it’ll be a lunch date, art together at @caffetto and kickboxing. I’m hoping tomorrow is a better day. Thanks for reading. Good night!
How do you come up with these beautiful shots ?
That's a little different to some of your usual shoots, but great pics.
There's something about Indian culture that I find really fascinating. I've been watching some shows lately that really highlight it. This is a really cool addition to your portfolio. The traditional outfits are so ornate and beautiful.
