Behind the scenes at Viva Las Vegas!

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

I’m welcoming myself back to Minnesota and to Hive with an update from Viva Las Vegas. I’ve been gone for 9 days. A lot has changed in my personal life. I’ll go into that soon. For tonight, I just want to share some behind the scene photos from the time in Los Angeles and Las Vegas over the last week and a half. This trip is typically half of my annual income. It’s exhausting. Even though I know this looks like a dream job […it is], it comes with a heavy toll mentally, emotionally, physically and creativity. This year was more demanding than previous years, mostly because of personal reasons and a severe back injury I suffered early in the trip.

Reflecting on some of these photos, I’m grateful that I did make it through these grueling nine days without cancelling a single shoot. Believe me, I was close. There is always something that’s lingered for me regarding my career; these images will outlive me. I believe that. When I’m dead and gone, they’ll exist as part of my legacy of what I leave behind. At this point, who knows, maybe they’ll just be prompt fodder for AI dark pinup generated art, but they’re a record of my time on earth and contribution to the world. It’s worth sucking it up on bad days or a sad state of mind. I’m proud of the images I made during this trip.

Over the next several weeks and months, I’ll be sharing more of the new work here on Hive. I shot over 13,000 new photos in both cities. I had some return clients and many new clients that I was meeting and photographing for the first time. I’ll have a chance to talk about some of the trip outside of the shoots as well. I did a book signing for @wcpublishing at the Viva Las Vegas car show […I’ve done this every year since 2018 when the Dark Pinup book was release, with the exception of 2020 of course]. Some great nights seeing friends at The Orleans and throughout the Rockabilly Weekend.

In the meantime, please enjoy some of these iPhone captures on the sets of some of my favorite shoots during the last nine days on the road. Tomorrow I’ll be going to @caffetto for half the day to start the long, arduous task of reviewing all 13,000 photos. I need to make my picks and start editing. Personal favorite shoots, I already have in mind. I’m looking forward to editing and sharing these new photos. Hive has become a therapeutic immutable journal for me and documenting my journey is something I’ve grown to covet. Thanks for reading. Have a good night!

Nine days and thirteen thousand images. That's only one thousand four hundred and forty four a day. A good effort I think, especially since you need to review and edit them. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Yeah. It's kind of insane to think I shot that many images in less than two weeks, but it was averaging two shoots a day and each shoot is typically between 600 - 900 images. I'm just sitting down to go through them all now.

That last one almost looks like it could be AI generated. Sounds like it was a quite exhausting trip! It's good that you are home now and you are able to slow the pace if even for a day. I look forward to seeing what else your trip consisted of!

Yeah, I can see that, too, @bozz. Viva is always brutal but as fast paced and chaotic as it, it's fun. I can't stand being sedentary and predictable.

Hey! 13,000 photos in 9 days sounds exhausting, especially because of having to select and edit. As a girl who likes to take photos, I usually take many of which I then choose very few compared to the amount (it usually happens) because I don't like most of them but the amount you've taken would drive me crazy, I guess it's worth it if it's part of your income and that you also enjoy doing it. Without a doubt, the work you do leaves a record that will remain and will last when you are gone, that will be like your legacy.

Yeah, it was, @mariajcastro28. I typically get a couple of perfect shots from each shoot, then about five or six keepers, and a few that are just okay. You're right. Most of them will never see Photoshop. I do hope these photos will outlive me.

I feel very shocked to know that in 9 days you managed to take 13,000 photos, it was a great job! When the vocation and passion are in the pupils of the photographer, the results are wonderful!
Thank you very much for sharing, I really enjoyed it!
I wish you an excellent weekend, greetings! @kommienezuspadt

Thanks, @kristal24! Yeah. It was a brutal trip but I'll take this over a 9 - 5 office job any day. I also have months of content for Hive now, which is always nice. Thanks for the comment.

Having a free schedule where there are no parameters is really wonderful, when work becomes your greatest passion, fatigue and sleepless hours are not felt. I'm glad to know that you have great content to share on Hive, I'll be very attentive to enjoy your great photos.
I wish you a fantastic Sunday, best regards! @kommienezuspadt

My wait was not in vain, great shots of some exceptionally talented ladies

Thank you, @grindle. Glad to be home now, but it was a memorable trip.

I am sure it was!

So beautiful people
