What’s up, Hive? I’m coming in late, after 1:00a.m. My sleep schedule has been disrupted with work and getting sick. There’s just so much I’m trying to fit in to my days […and nights], but if feels kind of empty if I’m not sharing something on Hive before I go to bed. Tonight I’ll be sharing a few selection of never before seen black and white images of some of my favorite color shots from the last couple years or travel and dark pinup tours throughout the US. There’s a certain romance to monochromes that you’ll never get with a color photo; it’s a chance to showcase the timelessness of the portraits.
The first is a shot with a beautiful model named Georgie Glamour. She was visiting the US for Viva Las Vegas, I think in 2018. This was the same year, and I believe night, that I had my release party for @wcpublishing’s Dark Pinup book, and it was hosted at the Artisan Hotel. Sadly, the hotel, which has become something of a signature to my shoots in Vegas, has been completely renovated losing all of its beautiful decor. This shot of Georgie particularly stands out with her porcelain skin standing out against an inky black backdrop of the hotel lobby.
This next photo was taken in New York City at Beauty Bar, a small bar venue in Manhattan. The model is Danielle Otrakji and I met her at a comic book convention in Chicago in 2017. We became friends and stayed in touch through Instagram and always talked about shooting together. In 2018, I was able to meet up with her in New York. I was stoked that she’d be included in the pages of the Dark Pinup book, and Beauty Bar was willing to open their space for us to shoot, even though it was in the middle of a massive east coast blizzard. This shot was worth it!
Lastly, this is one of my wedding photos. I don’t shoot wedding often. I’m very choosey about the clients I take on, but I developed a friendship with Hanae and Ben and we set a date for the Spring of 2020. Then the summer of 2020, then the late summer, then finally, the fall. I eventually ended up driving from Minnesota, all the way to LA for this shoot because I was afraid my flight would be cancelled because of the pandemic. This shot really stands out as one of my favorites and looks like an Old Hollywood print from a celebrity wedding. I love it!

Cool black and white 😎
Thanks, @foxkoit!
The wedding photo is just stunning. Especially in black and white, it looks magical.
Awwww, thanks so much, @readingdanvers! I love that shot. I'd shoot more weddings if clients wanted images like this, lol. They're typically so boring.
I need shots like that in my life
I need to just come to Venezuela for a few shoots, @josehany!
I'm currently living in Peru now hahaha
