Now that we have outwaited the storm it is time to move fast towards Juneau
We leave at about 10 a.m. and start battling currents, which reduces our speed to 2 knots instead of 4 knots. As we start to get used to the motion of the ocean, we get a bit seasick. Since we've been in calm seas for the last months, the seasickness did affect us, but after quite a bit, it wears off.
Day 1
As I woke up for my first 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. shift, it felt like someone sucked all the energy out of my body, with the motion of the boat and the loud motor, l just felt I would fall asleep...
Being an experienced sailor, I'd say the first 24 hours of a passage are the hardest since your body is not used to the motion of the boat.
Usually, our days and nights are boring, but on my night shift, somewhere around 11 p.m., I noticed a black spot on our deck. I tried to reach for it to discover what it was and found out it was an exhausted bird resting on our boat. It probably flew to far offshore, and now can not make it back.
Picture takin in the morning.
We did get a bit of sunlight but on...
Day 2
After more than 24 hours of motoring with no sun light, we started to get low on electricity so we where forced to turn on our, other motor that produces power.
Since we have another two days to reach our destination, we check the weather just to make sure we'll make it because we do not want to motor against the wind. We find out that there is some nasty wind, which makes us switch course to another anchorage. One thing I can tell you is that on a sailing boat, it is the wind that tells you where to go and when. On a boat, plans change in the blink of an eye.
Last day…
We finally arrive at 10 am…
After dropping the anchor we let the silence surround us, it is so nice not to have the noise of the motor.
Do not get fooled by the fog it is still only 10 am.
We spent the day resting and getting ourselves ready for another night shift…

Interesting. These journeys can really be demanding at times. Where are you guys really heading to and why?
We are going to stay in Juneau for the next week, so there is going to be a lot of blogs!!!
We went here cuz one of our crew has a flight soon as well...thank you for dropping by
Okay, so after Juneau, where next are you guys going to?
After Juneau we will go to Sitka then we will keep going south until Canada
What are you guys going around for? Just for fun?
We sail the world because it was my dads dream, and here we are after 3 and a half years of sailing.
It is a good question, we do not really do it just for the fun, but also get educated, i do not know, it is quite hard to explain. Good question 😅
Hehehe. I get it, though. Cool as fuck!
How do you guys earn money to sustain yourselves when it seems all the time is going to sailing?
