Snow in Just Before April?!
Oh gosh... We have a snowy day today. This season's snow melts quickly, even though it snows a lot. Just as expected, almost all the snow melted in the afternoon. However, it's still gently snowing outside.
When I woke up, I noticed the silent atmosphere before opening the blinds, but I felt something was off. When I opened the blinds, I saw a white world outside.
Hmm... I'm not a fan of spring snow. It's heavy, wet, and snowy, but beautiful. The air outside was so refreshing. All the trees were dressed up in white.
My dog looked happy because he loves snow very much. He investigated the smell and made sure what was going on.
The fresh snow was on my pine trees, which were half awake due to the spring breeze.
My favourite birch tree and my husband's favourite cherry tree looked pretty with their white coatings.
The outside view is different from these photos now. The temperature isn't as cold as it was in February, so I won't need to use the wood stove tonight. However, I'm still wearing my winter fleece, warm pants, thick socks, and slippers.
This season is a bit tricky when it comes to deciding what to wear, but since I started working from home, I don't need to bring many extra clothes. When I used to work at schools, I would wear a few layers. The air in schools is very dry sometimes, but it can suddenly become very hot and humid.
However, after taking off some tops, I get cold quickly. School floors are usually very cold, so I needed to wear thick socks, but not too thick. Students would get hot easily. Phew, it wasn't easy to maintain a comfortable temperature for myself. Now, I don't need to feel too hot or too cold while working from home.
My dog's hair is also changing to its spring style. He finished shedding slightly in early March, little by little, so he looked a bit confused.
Hopefully, there won't be any more snow after April... I don't want my garden, trees, and the birds that visit my garden to get confused too much.

４月間近に雪です！？
なんと、今日は雪でした。この季節に降る雪は、たとえたくさん降ったとしても、たいていすぐにとけてしまいます。思った通り、午後にはほとんどの雪がとけてなくなりました。今もまだちらほらと雪が降っています。
朝目覚めると、カーテンを開ける前になんとなく違和感を感じました。シーンと静まり返っている感覚がしたのです。カーテンを開けると、そこは真っ白な世界でした。
うーん…春の雪は好きではありません。この時期の雪はきれいですが、重いベタ雪です。外の空気は澄んでいます。木々は真っ白に雪化粧をしていました。
私の犬は雪好きなので、嬉しそうにしていました。あちこちの臭いを嗅ぎ回って、何が起こっているかを確かめています。
庭の松の木の上にもしっかり新雪が降り積もっています。春の風に誘われて目覚めたばかりの木々です。
私の好きな白樺の木と、主人の好きなバードチェリーの木もすっかり真っ白になっています。
今朝の雪景色は、あっという間にとけてなくなりました。気温は２月に比べるとかなり和らいでいますので、今夜は薪ストーブを使わなくてもよさそうです。ところが、まだ冬用のフリースを着て、あったかパンツと分厚い靴下とスリッパをはいています。
この時期は何を着てよいか迷いますが、在宅の仕事に切り替えてからは服のことで悩まなくなりました。以前のようにたくさん着込まなくても大丈夫です。学校で働いていたときは、何層にも服を重ね着していました。学校内の空気はときどきものすごく乾燥します。そうかと思えば、いきなり暑くなり湿度が上がります。
ところが、上着を脱ぐとまた突然寒気がしてきます。学校の床は冷たいことがほとんどですので温かい靴下を履いていましたが、分厚すぎても熱がこもっていけません。生徒さんたちはすぐに暑がります。ふう…心地良い暖かさを保つのは至難の業でした。今は、自宅を暑すぎず寒すぎず、快適な温度に保つことができています。
私の犬の毛はすでに春用に衣替えが終わっています。３月の初め頃から少しずつ毛が抜け替わりました。また冬に逆戻りしたので、少し困惑しているようです。
４月に入ったらどうか雪が降りませんように…。畑や木や、庭を訪れる鳥たちがあまり混乱しないようにしてほしいです。
