One weeks ago, I'm with the Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, visited the traditional Papringan Market which is known to be unique.
Papringan Market in Central Java. When you are here, it feels like you have returned to Javanese life in the past and entered a time machine. The tourist attraction in the form of a 2,500 meter high bamboo garden was transformed into the famous Papringan Market as a tourist attraction.
The Papringan Market area has a concept that follows markets in the Ancient Javanese era, such as location, currency, sellers' uniforms with lurik cloth, food and even a place to buy goods.
Temanggung Papringan Market was formed and managed by the youth of Ngadiprono Hamlet who are members of the Mata Air Community, a community that cares about environmental conservation efforts. This community collaborates with the Spedagi Community.
They arranged this area with stalls, seating and a parking area in the old Javanese style. This arrangement also aims to revive tourism in the village. Most of the market facilities use bamboo materials.
Now, every time Papringan Market is held, it is always visited by hundreds of people who not only come from the Temanggung area. Many tourists from outside cities such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang and Magelang come to visit.
The market opens based on good days in the Javanese calendar. In this case, the count of good days falls on Wage Sunday and Pon Sunday.
The operational hours of Papringan Temanggung Market are from 6 AM to 12 PM. Papringan Market is held twice in 35 days (Javanese calendar, more days than one month in the Gregorian calendar).
Therefore, make sure visitors know the schedule for this market day. Especially for people who live outside the city.
