Es hermafrodita pero aún así necesita pareja siendo capaz de poner entre 50 y 60 huevos los cuales eclosionan a los 13 días. No afecta al ecosistema. Se cree que actualmente son menos coloridas como respuesta evolutiva de defenderse ante depredadores. Vive al rededor de 15 meses.
