RE: Movement VIII: A Series of Photographs With an Old Nikon NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8 AI Lens and Some Philosophy Musings (Part Eight)

I know, anytime you want to know or learn is there…
It is so different for me as I am fluent in Dutch. But after a little while I can “tune” in hehehe 🤭
Yep, they are… in my opinion the most beautiful one is French… the sounds… lovely.

Yes! French is for sure the most beautiful. Dutch, Afrikaans, German and all those germanic languages are very “loud” and agressieve. There is this one joke about Afrikaans compared to Dutch; basically, Afrikaans people speak very quickly so it sounds like a machine gun compared to Dutch which is much more poetic or “flowing” if that makes sense haha

Yes, the Germanic languages are rough… the sounds very loud and aggressive. German is the worst in sounds.
Hahaha I can imagine what you mean lol funny funny 😎

I love it though. I love the rich texture of all the germanic languages especially regarding poetry. Sometimes in my own poetry I focus on the sounds of the words rather than the immediate meaning. A play of words; a play of sounds.

Are you not worried it sounds strange to people that don’t have those sounds?
It is really interesting thinking about it.
As I told you, I learned English the parrot fashion way. And I rely now on how it sounds. I can hear.. when something isn’t right. I have this in all of my languages now I think.
I know I’m still learning… but I know/ hear when it is off hahaha 🤣Oh that is interesting to hear @fermentedphil 🤓 you focussing more on sounds in your poetry.

That is something I have not thought about to be honest! But it is interesting. I think in some sense poetry is textual but also musical in the sense that you want to recite it. I think I need to think a bit more about this!

Maybe… yes. But you can’t focus on all languages and their sounds.
Do what feels and sounds right for you. As it is your expression that you are sharing. Your heart and soul.

That is it right? When you write something you care about, it is as if you put a bit of yourself into that writing. I think with a glass of wine in hand this conversation can become very philosophical!
