Hi all 👋🏻
Today I want to share with you my Walk with some members of the Iznájar walking group, following the RIOFRÍO to its convergence with the RIO GENIL in Granada province, Spain.
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk challenge and Make me Smile challenge
‼️Have a look: Here in the Wednesday Walk Community if you want to join in!. That are hosted by @tattoodjay and @elizacheng every week on Wednesday.
I lived in the countryside of Iznájar at that time and walked many walks with the walking group…
We walked it 8 March 2015 and it was about 8,5 km.
Photos are taken with my (late) Canon eos 550D and 18-135mm lens.
I will guide you through these photos as I follow the time stamps. So you can walk along with us and explore this area and things / details I show you 😊
Location of this walk on Google Maps, the star is where the 2 rivers meet each other.
We started in the town Venta de Santa Barbara.
The walking route:
Let’s start our walk, Enjoy ☺️
We leave the town at this bridge, we will not cross it and take the sand path on the right side of it by crossing the road.
We are passing a cement factory. Here you see also part of our walking group.
As we pass by the factory we can look into it as it is mainly open.
We pass by the resting areas of the workers… everything is rather dusty as you can see.
I find this iron sign with lettering.
It says plasters of Tigre.
As we are leaving the factory behind we are entering nature at its finest… the Andalusian countryside.
We are walking sandy paths here. Past rocks/ mountains.
And the River Frío is always along our way. RIOFRÍO.
In the distance we see these views 🤩 and the path we will walk, next to the rocks. The first photograph of this post is a zoomed in version of this photo with more details showing.
Following the path…
Here and there is a little shade what is welcoming as it is a bright morning in March.
The river is still with us, we will follow it all the way until it merges with the river GENIL. What is an interesting sight.
We pass by a little house, in the open balcony the owners are drying hot pimentos.
A little bit further we see that the river is getting wild.
Rocks and that the river is rather small here are creating this.
As we follow the sandy path further, big rocks are towering over us now, high on the mountain.
Our walking group, walking steady along 😎
If you look closely in the sky, you see vultures circling, looking for prey.
Our path goes up now more and more.
Next to us I find bushes with seeds.
Rock faces from the mountains we cross.
Sometimes we have to cross some obstacles. But the group is doing well 😁
See the river FRÍO is still with us, now below… crossing the valley.
As we go down on the other side we have these views 🥰
I find early spring flowers next to us in the grass. 🌸🌸
A sign… it means fishing grounds.
This walking route is not signposted btw. , but some of us had walked it before and know the way.
We are crossing a beautiful valley now. It’s much greener here and more trees are around us.
I find some details, I want to show you… as you may know by now… I love details 🥰😎
And these tree branches are suited perfectly for that.
Here you see some moss on large rocks next to us.
On the left side next to us we find this large field with yellow flowers, what is a pretty sight agains the beige colour of the mountain. Don’t you think?
The river is right of us and there is a little bridge we cross. Can you see it?
The dogs from our walking group are taking advantage of the cool water and are jumping in. This gives us the opportunity to rest a little.
The fun they have 🤩🤩🐶🐶
Are you still with me? You must be thinking where is the point that the rivers merge…
Don’t worry… we are almost there.
Stay with us. It is worth it 😊☀️
This tree caught my eye… it wanted to live forever in our picture and memory. 😉
Across the field a little bit further we see a large ruin.
There are no normal roads up here so we all know the reasons why it is a ruin now.
A little further again towering rocks above us.
And on the right the river is still streaming strong.
We are following it very closely now.
Lots of bright green vegetation on the river banks.
Let’s zoom in…
And just around the corner…
We see the RIOFRÍO and its convergence with the RIO GENIL.
We made it all the way out here.
See how different the two rivers are? Both have different colours, one is smooth and the other streams rough.
It’s an very interesting sight.
But don’t go yet… I have to show you a few more photos from our walk.
If you are not tired… let’s have a look around us a little bit more as we walk back.
Above us we see some spiralling clouds…
We decided to walk past the ruin on our way back, on the other side of that large field. Do you remember? 😊
Here we are getting closer to it. The dogs from some members of our group are having so much fun, running around.
We are at the ruin now.
Let’s have a closer look 👀
Doors and windows…
A few more details.
Forgotten times… if walls could talk.
Let’s walk further.
I see this tree that was lying in the grass. With a stunning backdrop.
After the field we walk along the river FRÍO again.
More little flowers and a butterfly 🦋
Our slightly different path back. We take a path through an area were the trees with blossoms are.
As we get closer to the little town again we find in this area, they planted some new trees… all neatly next to each other.
In the distance we see that bridge again, do you remember? 😁
The bridge…
We walk left into the town and have this view of this cute little town, with another bridge in the foreground.
And with this last photo of our walking group, I finish our walk and end my #WednesdayWalk and #Makemesmile… post. (Last photo taken by Melanie S.)
Hope you enjoyed my photographs of this beautiful walk in this part of the world 🤩 Granada province:

what a lovely experience y'all had. I still do look for places like this in my city, although I currently stay in a similar place, still, I crave a hike like this one
!discovery 27
Hope you find places and walks like this one… it is just great to be surrounded by nature and be active, go out walking.
At the moment I live not longer close to this walking group, it is to far to drive to join just for a walk. But if I am in the area I will... Now I go out around here, where I live and it is very similar… I just have to drive up inland a little bit. Andalusia is large and has so many places we can explore.Thank you so much @stevenson7 we truly had.
Hope you find something similar soon 🤞🏻😎😊
I hope so too
thanks
pretty cool, I was writing a post about nature when I saw this
amazing.
That’s pretty cool, at the same time 😉
Well what was such a fun and sensational walk!
I was there with you every step of the way but when you got to the ruins the first time I’m so sorry, I ran away from the group and I went to explore the ruins instead, then I caught up and then dived into the river with the dogs… and splashed around with them for awhile until we all left.
I’m so glad that we went to go back to the ruins a second time so I could have an even better look!
I had such a fun walk with you @littlebee4 and all the rest of the group!
Thank you so much for taking me along and I can’t wait to go again!
Xxx
And then jumping in the water with the dogs, are you sure? In early March in Spain…. Bbbbrrrrr it would be very very cold even with the sun out. But yeah… let’s go with it.
It would have been fun to go in with them 😎Aaawww that’s so nice @chocolatescorpi it made me laugh when you said you run away from our group hahahaha to explore the ruins before all of us 😁
I’m happy that I could share this walk with you and you enjoyed it so much.
Until next time dear @chocolatescorpi 🥰👋🏻☀️
And you are so welcome 😊
xxx
Yes, but I'm so glad we all went back together to explore the ruins...you know me and my fascination with ruins....I really should have been an archeologist..
And yes, In the water with the dogs for sure! 😃
Next time eh! 😃
Yes I do @chocolatescorpi 😊 you probably should have been. But if you are exploring now and truly enjoying it it will be all fine 🥰
Hahaha bbbrrrrr I’ll wait on the site for you to come out. Hahaha
Yep 😉👋🏻
(Just posted my train journey back… but not Madrid itself, need to go though many many photos before I can post)
Tomorrow we are getting an usb stick with our wedding photographs… ooooo sooooo exciting. We had to wait so long for it. 🥰😁
Ooooh how exciting! The train trip AND the wedding photos!
Indy and I have to go to bed now, but we;ll have a look at the train journey tomorrow night when we get home from work (well me really, since she gets to work from home in her little blue document shredding office here...)
Goodnight @chocolatescorpi and Indy 👋🏻😴
Until tomorrow 😊
My husband picked up the USB stick, now I have to wait until this evening till he gets home at 1900h
Still exciting. I hope to post some this weekend. 👰🏻♀️🤵🏻♂️
How cute she has her own paper shredding office, I know they like to do that.
Have a good sleep… 🤗
This place looks quite a bit like Arizona. If I got teleported there I probably wouldn't know the difference at first :-)
It has many similarities in many ways.
Thanks for looking 😊😁👋🏻Yes it truly does @sketch.and.jam especially now it get dryer and dryer here.
The architecture would be the main thing that would look different.
Yes, here it is a Mediterranean style/build. With other influences over the years gone by.
This is the closest architecture that is old Spanish Colonial style that is still left in some parts of the Southern Arizona.
That’s stunning… and looks so familiar with the haciendas around here.
Beautiful to see that there is still some left in the south.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful photograph with me.
It used to be an old Catholic church but now its a museum for Native American artifacts.
such a great trip @littlebee4.
Thank you so much @kimloan 😊👋🏻
That landscape looks great for a walk and photography...
And dividing it… I rather share one good post. 😊
The landscapes around there are stunning and ever changing with every mountain you cross.Thank you so much @crazy-andy it is… I had taken almost 250 photographs during that walk. It was hard to select the ones to show as almost all were great to show 😉 but then my post gets just to long…
Have a great day, thanks for stopping by.

Next time please remember to pin your post on Pinmapple as soon as you make your post to increase your chances of curation and support!!
I had it pinned before I finished writing the post, before I published it. I included the pin via copy the code and then published it. Isn’t that enough?
Do I need to do something additional after publishing?Sorry @pinmapple team, I don’t understand? (Still a newbie)
I did notice it took a longggg time (really hours, almost the next day) before pinmapple replied that it was included. Was it a glitch? It wasn’t within 1 hour for sure.
Hope you can clarify this for me, so I know what to do.
👏👏👌🙂
Thank you kindly @vankata8 😎😊
That was a lovely long walk, started out dusty but I enjoyed how nature and the flowers softened it all. "If only walls could talk." - indeed!
It was, but changed so quickly to pure nature.
Yes… if they could 😉Thank you so much @discoveringarni 😊
