Yesterday I posted about the See Monster and that they are kicking off the project with an event called the Awakening. Today I want to share with you what the Awakening is.

If you saw the British Platinum Jubilee celebrations a few months ago, you might have noticed there was a drone show one evening displaying a lot of objects relating to the UK and the royal family. That was a massive hit with people, and the team behind that project has prepared another drone show for the See Monster that involves 400 drones.

The first show was a couple of nights ago and attracted thousands of people who lined up on the seafront to see the show. I've never seen our town so busy before. Tonight was the second show and although I've seen it once before and the surprise element wasn't there, it was still a spectacular show. It was so fascinating to see the clear blue sky suddenly light up with so many dots, dancing around and suddenly forming different objects and words. Every scene they performed was related to the See Monster project and our town.

We started off with the See Monster logo, something that I've become very familiar with recently. Then we had a series of weather and nature related objects as that's what the project is about - umbrella, cloud, wind turbine, ducks, and the globe. And the final scene was Thank you Weston. I think that's a lovely touch as there's been so much delay in the project that some of the locals definitely have not been happy with the progress. I think the See Monster may have redeemed itself now!

These images really don't do itself justice as the whole drone show is really amazing. There will be a third and final show in a couple of days time. I'm planning to take a video so you can see for yourself and hopefully enjoy the show as much as I did. Stay tuned!

Pretty cool pics 👍👍

That's a pretty cool show. It's impressive that they can get drones to sync like that haha. The monster all it up is quite cool as well.

These drone shows are pretty slick nowadays. The monster will have an extended neck in future and that will be lit up as well!

Wow... this is a really amazing picture. I've never seen a show like this in person. Even where I've never been.. I've watched it on the youtube channel before.

It's my first as well, that's why I'm going to all three of them even though the show is the same, the vibe is really great.

Those drone shows are pretty awesome. I have never seen one live, but it is so impressive what they can do these days with the technology. I still think it is funny they are going to all this trouble for something that is only going to be there for a couple of weeks. The capital outlay must be immense!

This is also the first time I've seen a drone show like this and we're so lucky it's done by a team that's done other major shows before including the New Year's eve and Commonwealth Games recently.

As to funding, luckily it's a government funded project and not paid by the local government. It's part of a nation wide project about creativity and STEM learning, with 10 different projects in different places in the country. If it's funded locally, I'm sure some locals will go beserk!!

That is really cool. It's amazing what technology can do these days. Also good that the federal government is paying for it. Better to spend money on that than weapons. I still think it seems frivolous to not make it a permanent thing.

I was very surprised yesterday when you shared one of these on discord. Now I'm even more surprised. The whole thing looks great and requires a really big organization. I have never seen a drone show before lol.

It seems like they are becoming more popular now but they still need quite a lot of organisation and technical know how to make a good show. I think I'm very lucky to have one on my doorstep

I am itching to see a drone show sometim, so super envious!! lol

comon over for Thursday's last show!!! I'm going to do a video then, hopefully it will come out ok

I wish I could! Fingers crossed for the video 😀

This looks like a class night out and a great light show, at first I just glanced down through the photo and didn't realise they were all drones.. How cool is that, you guys must have had a great time at this.

It was certainly a blast!! The first time I've seen a live drone show, and it's really impressive, just wished it was a bit longer

All this is cool, the show and these lights. Great you could see it in real, for sure it must have been an awesome experience!!

{btw, tomorrow is the first day in the month... I know you know, but there are those who are waiting for the new challenge and questions 😁}

The vibe with the crowd was brilliant that's why I'm going to all three of them to make the most of it.

Ah yes! the first comes so quick, I got a few ideas this month ...
